Bethenny Frankel Talks Celebrating Divorce At ‘Real Housewives’ Viewing Party
Bethenny Frankel is feeling like a new woman! The brunette star of Bravo’s hit reality TV series The Real Housewives of New York City celebrated the airing of last night’s drama-filled episode with a little viewing party hosted by her SkinnyGirl Cocktail line in Manhattan on Wednesday night. The entrepreneur opened up about the finalization of her divorce and showed off her new haircut at the event.
Wednesday evening’s summer shindig doubled as the RHONY viewing party and the launch party for Frankel’s newest cocktail flavor, the SkinnyGirl Watermelon-Lime Margarita, People reported. The mom of one opened up about how her life has changed just one month after she finally closed the chapter on her long, contemptuous divorce.
“It feels wrong to celebrate something that was so negative and so terrible,” the RHONY star told People. “I was just happy that it was over, and I just cried because it was such an ordeal.
“I’m sure there will come a time when I will feel like it really is signed, sealed and delivered, and I will then look to all my girlfriends and my gay friends and say, ‘All right, let’s turn this mofo out.’ There will be a moment. I just haven’t hit it yet.”
Even though her divorce was only finalized last month, Frankel has already moved on and found love with her boyfriend, New York-based banker Dennis Shields. Two weeks ago, the reality star sparked engagement rumors when she posted a photo of herself hugging Shields on Instagram’s new Story feature. She wore a huge diamond ring on her left ring finger and fans immediately started speculating whether Frankel was engaged to Shields, but she shut down the rumors quickly.
“I’m not sure if I would get married again. I don’t know if it suits me,” Frankel told People. “I haven’t been so great at my choices and so I’m a little more careful now.”
It seems like Frankel is just living in the moment and enjoying herself, and she even embraced the big changes in her life by chopping off her hair. She showed off her new look — a blunt fringe with a face-framing asymmetric bob — at the SkinnyGirl launch party, Us Weekly reported. She debuted her new haircut at the event, pairing the new chic ‘do with a long, flowy asymmetrical white skirt paired with a bright orange scoop-necked sleeveless top. Frankel completed the look with pointed-toe heels, a watermelon-shaped clutch, and a light orange belt cinched at her waist.
“I really like them,” the 45-year-old told Us Weekly when asked about her new bangs. “It’s the summer of freedom. I was ready for a new look and I’m liking them a lot.”
But even though she seemed happy and carefree at her viewing party, she definitely appeared stressed-out and emotional on last night’s episode of RHONY. In a tense scene, Frankel dropped a bombshell shocker on her co-star Luann de Lesseps when she confronted her with evidence that Luann’s fiance Tom D’Agostino allegedly had a recent affair with another woman.
Bethenny shared the devastating news with Luann just days before her engagement party, and she received backlash from fans on social media for the way she chose to confront Luann. RHONY viewers criticized Bethenny because she chose to tell Luann the news while Bravo cameras were rolling, instead of pulling her to the side and telling her in person.
Luann also questioned Bethenny’s method, as previously reported by the Inquisitr. The reality star took to Twitter to explain that Bethenny told other cast members first before telling her. But Bethenny defended herself and her actions on Twitter, explaining that she wouldn’t change anything about the way she chose to break the news to her co-star.
