‘Inside Amy Schumer’ Season 5 Canceled? Comedienne Says She’s Not Quitting The Show

Inside Amy Schumer season 5 isn’t canceled as previously reported. For the moment, the series simply does not have a writer, as the comedienne revealed on Twitter today.

One of the most successful and beloved feminists in Hollywood today, Amy Schumer got her start with a difficult climb up the comedy ladder. She had done several comedy specials before gaining her fame with Comedy Central roasts of various celebrities, where her knack for delivery and adorable smile gave her the final push. She used that fame to start a TV series called Inside Amy Schumer, which has only four seasons under its belt.

It was recently revealed on Twitter on Wednesday night that Inside Amy Schumer season 5 wasn’t going to be made. However, it seems the feminist icon may have been overreacting. Kurt Metzger, the primary writer for the show, had realized that one of the people he knew, Aaron Glaser, was an alleged serial rapist, and instead of condemning the man for his actions, he took a controversial route. Instead of identifying the man by his real name, Metzger came up with a fictional name, Jiff Dilfyberg, and he used it to poke fun at the feminist culture, according to Salon. He has since removed the post.

“Guys I have just heard some disturbing news, this guy Jiff Dilfyberg is a rapist! I know because women said it and that’s all I need! Never you mind who they are. They are women! ALL women are as reliable as my bible! A book that, much like a women, is incapable of lying! You think I would dare ask my God, Lord Jesus Christ the Nazarene to provide any ‘details’ or ‘evidence’ of any kind before I believe in him?”

Many took offense to the Inside Amy Schumer writer poking fun at not only feminism, but he also mocked Christianity. For this reason, Schumer had stated that season 5 wasn’t being made.

Today, it seems Schumer changed her mind and explained what was really happening. Kurt Metzger had allegedly quit before posting his Facebook trolling rant. He had questioned the accusations of several women against Aaron Glaser due to the lack of actual proof. Schumer has expressed her sorrow that her friend, Kurt Metzger, acted the way he did by making a smug, sarcastic post about a very serious issue.

Still, many fans are questioning Schumer’s stance as rape and sexual humor are often the subjects of her stand-up and sketch comedy routines.

Schumer revealed today that Inside Amy Schumer season 5 isn’t canceled after all, but on hiatus, possibly until she can find another writer. In the meantime, she says she’s focusing on touring with her stand-up routine, which is the backbone of any professional comedian.

Comedy Central had just renewed Schumer’s sketch comedy series, but the loss of writers has forced her to do her own writing while she tours. It could be another year or more before the series returns.

Instead of being upset at not seeing Inside Amy Schumer season 5 for a while, fans might take comfort in the possibility that she’ll have a new comedy special coming soon. Well-known comedians often smooth out the rough edges for their prime time show while on the road and record their special after they have perfected the act. We might even get a few sneak peek jokes from the tour about possible subjects for the next season, or possibly more films like Trainwreck.

Jeff Dunham had a TV series once and ended up using most of the jokes in his comedy special, Controlled Chaos. Amy Schumer might do the same thing unless she’s against re-using jokes.

No, Inside Amy Schumer season 5 is not canceled. The comedienne is simply focusing on touring and writing, and the show is between writers.
