With its premiere quickly approaching, the Empire Season 3 spoilers are starting to come out of the woodwork. And this season is proving to be a doozy of a season, with rumors of an R&B musical legend joining the cast, an infamous marriage breaking up, and more deaths, pregnancies, and surprises than can possibly be described in just a few words!
According to Latin Post, one of the biggest Empire Season 3 spoilers is that the pairing that started it all — Cookie and Lucious — is coming to an end. It seems as though Cookie can’t take the fact that Lucious has a sham wedding with Booboo Kitty, even though Lucious (played by Terrence Howard) only married Booboo (played by Grace Gealey) so she wouldn’t have to testify against him. Cookie, as Lucious’s longtime paramour, has certainly dealt with a lot from him, but this sham wedding is a bit much for her to take, especially since she’d saved Booboo’s life just minutes before the wedding. And, like any good woman, Cookie (played by Taraji P. Henson) isn’t going to take it anymore, so she’s going to be shacking up with a new man, Angelo (played by Taye Diggs).
But that’s not the only Empire Season 3 spoilers that are causing much abuzz around the web. According to EURWeb, this epic moment when Cookie leaves Lucious will feature the start of the much-rumored Empire spin-off. Back in 2015, show creator Lee Daniels dropped a hint that the Empire spin-off, Star, would focus on the creation of an all-girl group, and would feature some of the characters we’ve come to know and love on Empire. In addition, Daniels confirmed that if Cookie does leave Lucious (he’s still leaving the possibility open that Cookie won’t leave; she does, after all, have children with Lucious), it won’t be for good… unless, of course, she decides to kill him. However, Empire‘s showrunner was just as quick to dismiss the rumors of a killing, because while the show is focused around and about the entertainment industry, “killing” is not the go-to option in the business. Rather, there has to be a sensitivity to how complex the relationships are within “the business,” and compound that with the complexities of human relationships in the first place. Otherwise, you run the risk of having a show that’s a parody of itself.
“Apart from some specific entertainment industry trends that we fell into a little bit, what we try to be mindful of is that even though we’re telling stories, you can’t do that lightly. Killing is not your go-to move. It’s a huge move and we always challenge ourselves to find other places to go before we go there because that’s an endgame.”
Finally, in another exciting bit of Empire Season 3 spoilers, it’s been confirmed that Mariah Carey will be making a special guest appearance on the show… but does that mean that Terrence Howard is fired? Well, if you believe Parent Herald, that’s exactly what it means. The legendary songstress will be playing the role of a superstar by the name of Kitty, and according to Lee Daniels, she’s already filmed her part and did a great job in doing so. But Terrence Howard’s future on the show may be in jeopardy, because his management company, Authentic Talent and Literary Management, has filed a lawsuit against him. The papers claim that the actor owes the management company $250,000, plus 10 percent of his earnings from Empire, especially since he was signed for seven seasons. For now, Howard’s future on the show is secure, but it leads one to wonder if there’s any validity to Daniels’ claims that Cookie just might kill Lucious, if this lawsuit gets any uglier.
