Is Russell Brand Stopping Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom From Getting Married?

Katy Perry could be about to get engaged to boyfriend Orlando Bloom.

New reports are claiming that Orlando, who was first rumored to be dating Perry back in February, is ready to propose to the star and has already told her that he wants to settle down and give his 5-year-old son with ex-wife Miranda Kerr, Flynn, a sibling.

Insiders close to the couple revealed this week that Perry and Bloom have gotten pretty serious fairly quickly and friends are anticipating that an engagement could be coming sooner rather than later, though it sounds like Perry’s previous marriage to Russell Brand is making her reluctant to head down the aisle.

“They are serious about each other and their relationship,” an insider recently told People of Katy and Orlando, adding that although Bloom has not popped the big engagement question just yet, things allegedly “seem to be heading that way” for the A-List couple.

“[Orlando] would love to settle down with Katy and have more kids,” People‘s source continued of Perry and her man, admitting that Bloom “hasn’t been this serious about a girl since Miranda.”

Orlando and Katy are yet to confirm the potential engagement reports suggesting a wedding could be on the horizon, but should the twosome find themselves walking down the aisle soon it will mark the second wedding for both.

Katy was previously married to Russell for two years between 2010 and 2012, while Orlando was married to Victoria’s Secret model Miranda for three years between 2010 and 2013.

But as sources claim that Orlando could be planning to propose soon and is ready to marry Katy, People‘s insider also noted that Perry may not be so quick to rush into walking down the aisle once again so soon because of her previous marriage, despite divorcing Brand four years ago.

“Katy’s divorce from Russell really messed her up emotionally,” a friend of Katy’s admitted to the site about her short-lived marriage to the British actor and comedian. “She’s not going to rashly make a huge commitment like marriage again unless she thinks it’s absolutely right.”

Perry has been open about her split from Brand in a slew of candid interviews, even telling Billboard magazine in 2013 that the track “By the Grace of God,” which is featured on Katy’s third studio album, Prism, is about the dark thoughts she experienced in the wake of her marriage breakdown.

“That song is evident of how tough it really was at a certain point. I asked myself, ‘Do I want to endure? Should I continue living?'” Perry told the magazine. “I put all the evidence in the music. I tell my fans if they want to know the real truth about stuff, just listen to the songs.”

Katy Perry also revealed to Marie Claire in 2013 that a big reason her first marriage ended was because she wasn’t ready to have kids.

“I’m definitely not there yet, and I can’t plan that far in advance,” Perry said three years ago, long before the bloom engagement rumors swirled. “When I decide to have a family, I’ll just want to be Mom for a little bit,” Katy admitted.

“[Russell] really wanted me to have children, and I knew I wasn’t ready,” continued Perry. “I really wanted to, but I knew I wasn’t ready for it. It wasn’t like, ‘Hey, let’s have a kid because we’re in love.'”

Three years later, Katy and Orlando Bloom have long sparked engagement rumors since going public with their romance, with numerous sites reporting that Perry’s relationship with the actor has been getting very serious in recent months.

A source divulged to OK! Magazine earlier this year that Katy does in fact wants to have kids with Bloom one day, but wants to be married before they get that serious.

“[Katy] wants a firm commitment,” the magazine said of Perry just weeks before People reported that Orlando wants to settle down and propose. “She wants children and wants to be married first.”

E! News also reported following Miranda Kerr’s July engagement to businessman Evan Spiegel that Bloom was planning to follow his ex’s lead and get engaged and marry again someday.

Confirming that Bloom had nothing but love for Kerr and Spiegel upon the announcement of their engagement last month, a source told the site that he “also plans to get married and have more kids one day,” and noted that Perry is more than likely the woman he want to get engaged to and settle down with.

As for how Miranda feels about Orlando getting so close to Katy, a source close to Kerr revealed prior to the engagement reports that she’s actually “happy” Bloom and Perry have been getting along so well and thinks that Perry is a “cool woman” and good with her son.

According to a source, Miranda is a fan of Katy and her music and thinks she’s “a really cool woman and talented singer” and “seems to be really good with Flynn and that is important to her.”
