Ronda Rousey Inspired By Olympics 2016 To Get Body Positive, MMA Fighter Too ‘Broken’ For UFC Next Fight Since Holly Holm Loss?

Ronda Rousey is prepping for her UFC next fight, but that doesn’t mean that she can’t look after the business side of the matter! The MMA fighter recently teamed up with Buffalo jeans to promote body positivity and to show that she isn’t afraid of the public eye as she recovers from the loss to Holly Holm almost ten months ago.

While her rivals have deemed her too “broken” to get back in UFC cage, it looks like 2012 Olympics bronze medalist is letting her actions speak for herself.

“I was confident enough in every area except for my looks,” Ronda said to SELF as she spoke about her body. “I wish that when I was younger I knew how pretty I was because I had no clue, and it made me feel very sad. I know how pretty I am now, and it makes me happy. It’s not like I suddenly became pretty, it just took time to realize it.”

As the MMA fighter inches back into the spotlight, her rivals are speaking up about the special treatment that she has received because of her celebrity status.

“She’s broken a little bit and I just think that no one really cares about Ronda Rousey and her fat arms anymore,” Julianna Pena said according to Fox Sports. “But I guess some people do so I guess Amanda’s going to wait for that title fight and we’ll see how that goes.

This is the kind of bad-mouthing that MMA fighters are known for and that Kayla Harrison, the 2016 Olympics judo gold medalist, wants to avoid.

“After a (judo) match, you shake the person’s hand and you give them a hug, and you bow to them to show respect,” Kayla said according to MMA Junkie. “In MMA, it’s not like that, and I don’t know if I’m made – I don’t know if I’m cut out for a world where you get fights based on how pretty you are and how much you talk, and not necessarily what you’re worth in the ring.”

As an Olympian herself, Ronda did not forget to pay tribute to the 22-year-old winner on her Instagram.

There is one thing that could push Kayla Harrison to MMA — money. The big money involved in UFC is one of the reasons Ronda Rousey decided to let go of her Olympics 2016 dreams and focus on fighting in the cage. Since then, her net worth has risen to about $12 million, which is something that she would never have been able to do if she stayed in judo.

Despite all the money, fame, and drama that she had, thanks to UFC and MMA, the 29-year-old west coast native did feel a little left out when Rio Olympics kicked off. She shared a picture of Budweiser on her Instagram, hinting that she would rather participate in the Olympics again than to sit at home after her devastating loss to Holly Holm.

Since winning her bronze medal, Ronda’s life has made a complete one-eighty, and now she even boasts of having boyfriend Travis Browne, whom she is ready to have a baby with. When she revealed having suicidal thoughts after her loss, she mentioned that he was what kept her going forward.

“To be honest, I looked up and saw that my man Travis was standing there, and I looked up at him and was just like, ‘I need to have his babies. I need to stay alive,'” she said. “I was thinking I was meant to have him when I was at my lowest. I wouldn’t have made it without him.”
