Police: 4-Month-Old Baby Viciously Punched To Death By Her Own Father

A 4-month-old baby is dead, and authorities say that the infant’s own father is the suspect in her horrifying death. CBS News reports that little Emersyn Morris was the victim of an incredibly violent and brutal assault. The details surrounding this tragedy are as heartbreaking as they are shocking.

Police in Minneapolis say that 21-year-old Cory Morris has admitted to viciously assaulting his 4-month-old daughter, while she was left in his care by his girlfriend, the baby’s mother. The incident reportedly took place on Saturday, while his girlfriend was at work. He had been entrusted to care for his young daughter while the woman was away, but what happened instead has landed him in jail on accusations that can put him in prison for many decades.

The Minnesota dad told police that the baby began “to make noises” while he was watching television. This irritated the young dad, who admits to taking the baby from the living room of their home into another room where he placed her on a changing table. When the child “continued to make noises,” Morris admits to punching her with a closed fist numerous times in hopes of silencing her. When the horrifying assault was over, Cory Morris called the child’s mother while she was at work, and declared that he “was going to jail, because he did something to the baby.”

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman made a statement revealing more about how the baby suffered.

“This poor baby, just four-months-old, died at the hands of her father, who has admitted to punching her 15 times with a closed fist, and hitting her seven times in the chest. As a father and grandfather, such brutal actions are difficult for me to comprehend.”

This isn’t the first time a child has been brutally beaten to death by a parent or guardian. Just this month, an 8-month-old infant was violently beaten by her mother and the woman’s boyfriend. Police in Atlanta say that Shavone Whitehead and Edward Wilson used a belt to beat the 8-month-old baby, which ultimately led to her death.

Earlier this year, a Staten Island baby was beaten and slammed to the ground, which led to his death. That’s not the only horrifying thing that happened to the defenseless child. The babysitter caring for him at the time of the incident also allegedly sodomized the child. The 31-year-old woman was also seen on video carrying the child’s deceased body while she smoked a cigarette.

Also earlier this year, a Denver mom was convicted and sentenced, after she reportedly beat her 2-month-old daughter to death. Inquisitr reports that 23-year-old Kelsy Newell-Skinner was sentenced to 40 years of imprisonment for the horrifying crime she committed. The incident occurred in 2014. The Denver woman beat the infant so brutally that the 2-month-old suffered from multiple skull fractures. She was declared brain-dead before she died from her injuries.

As for this latest case, Minnesota man Cory Morris has been charged with second-degree murder. If convicted of the crime that he has allegedly admitted to committing, he could face up to 40 years of imprisonment. Meanwhile, he is being held in jail, but it’s unknown at this time if he is being held on bond.

The mother of the slain baby has publicly posted on Facebook about the incident. She has expressed that she “lost the sweetest little girl the world has ever known.”
