Mike Horner: Florida State Representative Resigns After His Name Allegedly Appeared On A Brothel Client List

Florida State Representative Mike Horner quickly resigned after his name was found on a list connected to an alleged brothel owner. The 44-year-old Republican’s name came up during a prostitution investigation with suspected Orange County cat house owner, Mark Risner. Horner is married and has one son. The accusations dashed the politician’s chances at earning a third term in office from Kissimmee area voters – he was favored in the race.

Police investigators believe that Risner, 55, ran the Florida brothel out of his home, according to the Miami Herald. The state representative’s name was reportedly nestled among hundreds of others on the alleged sex-for-hire client list.

Nearly immediately after the Sunshine State politician’s name was reportedly found on the list, his campaign website was shut down, the Daily Mail reports. A notice on Gohorner.Com informed those who visited the online campaign website that it was closed down for maintenance issues. The speaker-designate of the Florida House of Representatives confirmed on Monday that the incumbent would no longer be seeking re-election.

A statement released by Mike Horner reads:

“I deeply regret decisions I made that are causing my family unjustifiable pain and embarrassment. While current press accounts this morning are erroneous, my family still deserves better from me, as do all my friends, supporters, and constituents. So today I am announcing that I will no longer seek re-election.”

State Attorney’s Office spokesman Bernie Presha notes that the politician is not being investigated for any crime. The list was found in Risner’s garbage after his arrest on prostitution charges.
