Miranda Lambert’s ‘Vice’ Lyrics Explained As She Plans ‘Revenge’ On Gwen Stefani

Miranda Lambert released her first post-divorce single, “Vice,” weeks ago, and now, one of her co-writers is speaking out about the country hit.

In a new interview, Grammy-winning songwriter Josh Osborne, who wrote the track along with Miranda Lambert and fellow Grammy winner Shane McAnally, opened up about what went into the song.

“We have a tendency from the other side to look at it and not look at them as people, but when you’re sitting in a room with somebody like that, you’re very aware of it,” Osborne explained to Taste of Country. “To her credit — and honestly, I think this is why she is such an acclaimed and successful artist — she was just like, ‘Everything’s on the table.'”

Following her split from ex-husband Blake Shelton in July of last year, Miranda Lambert kept a low profile for several months as she began writing her new album, which is expected to be released sometime later this year.

“It really is written from a point of view that I think is a relatable point of view. A lot of people struggle with things that are their weaknesses,” Osbourne continued of the first single off Miranda Lambert’s upcoming album.

“Another vice, another call / Another bed I shouldn’t crawl out of at 7 a.m. with shoes in my hand / Said I wouldn’t do it, but I did it again / And I know I’ll be back tomorrow night,” Miranda Lambert sings on the track, which has been linked to Shelton and Lambert’s feelings post-divorce.

Osbourne went on to say that despite the assumptions made about “Vice,” the interpretation has not been confirmed, nor will it be. He also noted that because Miranda Lambert is more of a celebrity due to her highly publicized marriage to Shelton, people are always going to speculate harder on what she’s saying in her songs.

As for Miranda Lambert’s current relationship with Blake Shelton, she doesn’t appear to have one and when it comes to his relationship with Gwen Stefani, she is said to be furious. In fact, according to a new report, Miranda Lambert is planning to get “revenge” on Stefani due to her constant PDA with her former husband.

“Gwen should be worried about what [Miranda Lambert] is going to say, sing and do next,” a source told In Touch Weekly magazine on August 12. “[Miranda] believes she’s been portrayed as the bad guy in her breakup with Blake and feels Gwen’s contributed to that public perception. Miranda would welcome a showdown with Gwen, to get everything out in the open once and for all.”

In recent months, Miranda Lambert’s ex-husband and his girlfriend, whom he began dating just months after his divorce from Lambert, have been participating in interview after interview and gushing about how their romance began as they went through their divorces (Stefani was parting ways with Gavin Rossdale at the same time Shelton was splitting from Miranda Lambert).

Months after Miranda Lambert’s ex-husband went public with his co-star while filming The Voice, Lambert went public with her new boyfriend, Anderson East, and the pair has been dating ever since. However, as her ex flaunts his relationship in interviews and around Los Angeles, Miranda Lambert has taken a much more private approach and has yet to speak of East at all, aside from a number of photos and videos on her social media pages.
