‘Stranger Things’: Why Is It Such An Obsession? Four Reasons Viewers Can’t Get Enough

Referring to Stranger Things as an obsession is somewhat of an understatement. Both ratings and social media prove that viewers can’t get enough. If you have a place in your heart for the 80s, you don’t want to miss this blockbuster Netflix series. Binge-watching is highly recommended! That being said, here are four reasons why Stranger Things was an overnight success.

Brings Back Childhood Memories

There’s nothing like fond childhood memories to make the day even better, especially in today’s fast-paced world. Scads of nostalgic references, scattered throughout each episode of Stranger Things, make it easy to take a step back into your childhood.

A tasty example of this is chocolate pudding, Hunt’s Snack Packs chocolate pudding to be exact. According to a recent MUNCHIES report, Stanger Things fans are clamoring for this sweet treat in its original packaging. At this point, no one knows if ConAgra will make that possible. However, you can get a glimpse of the sought-after snack cups in Episode 8 of the series. Or, in the video clip below.

ConAgra spokesperson Lanie Friedman recently had this to say about the possibility. (This looks like as good a time as any to get your pudding spoons ready!)

“Snack Pack pudding has been a family favorite for years, and we’re thrilled it was featured on the show. We’re always looking for ways to better connect with our consumers, so if they want throwback packaging we’ll certainly consider it. Stranger things have happened!”

Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven

Stranger Things wouldn’t be the same without all of the young talent involved. These kids definitely have bright futures ahead of them. However, Millie Bobby Brown (aka Eleven) continues to be the shining star.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Millie’s parents sold everything and moved to the United States so their daughter could pursue an acting career. As luck would have it, a Hollywood talent scout noticed Millie during one of her acting classes. This occurred while the family was living in Florida. Once they became aware that Millie possessed “instincts you cannot teach,” the Brown’s packed up and moved to California.

Scary and Sweet at the Same Time

When it comes to a series that’s scary and sweet at the same time, Stranger Things certainly fits the bill. Even though fans will undoubtedly be on the edge of their seats much of the time, the show isn’t scary during every minute of every episode. There’s plenty of sweet stuff, in between the scenes that make you want to watch what’s going on with your eyes half closed. With all of the references to 80s nostalgia, you just can’t go wrong.

Countless Unanswered Questions

One of the worst things about a blockbuster series such as Stranger Things is that fans have to wait, for what seems like a lifetime, for the next season. That being said, there are scads of unanswered questions that may or may not ever get answered. Can you wait that long?

Rolling Stone recently compiled a list of several questions that are probably on everyone’s mind. Here are just a few of them.

  • Is 11 still alive?
  • What’s the deal with Chief Hopper?
  • Are the Duffer brothers taking requests for additional 80s movie references?
  • Will Stranger Things morph into more of an Aliens movie?
  • Is Dr. Brenner really that evil?

Are you obsessed with Stranger Things? Do you find yourself craving Eggo waffles and battling the desire to put up holiday lights? If the answer is yes, you’re probably hooked. Feel free to leave your thoughts about Netflix’s Stranger Things below.
