Free Games For Xbox Live Gold Members: Get ‘WWE 2K16’ And ‘Beyond Good & Evil HD’ For $0 Starting August 16

Early this week, new free games for Xbox Live Gold members will be available. According to Major Nelson, one Xbox One title and an Xbox 360 game are set to become free beginning Tuesday, August 16.

Specifically available for Xbox One owners, WWE 2K16 is going to be one of the free games for Xbox Live Gold members this month. The 2K Sports’ professional wrestling video game joins Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate as free games for August.

WWE 2K16, developed by Yuke’s and Visual Concepts, is regularly priced at $39.99. But while the deal is ongoing, scheduled to run until September 15, Xbox Live Gold members need not pay for anything to get their own copy of the game.

WWE 2K16 proudly features the largest roster in WWE games history so far, such as cover Superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin. With over 120 unique playable characters, according to MetaCritic, the roster is a combination of WWE Superstars and Divas, WWE Hall of Famers, WWE alumni from various periods as well as emerging NXT talent. Included in the WWE 2K16 list of famous wrestlers players can choose from are Dean Ambrose, Finn Balor, Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins, among others.

Meanwhile, Xbox 360 users with a Xbox Live Gold subscription can get Beyond Good & Evil HD commencing Tuesday. Ubisoft’s 2003 action-adventure video game, now in high-definition, will replace Spelunky in the list of free games for Xbox Live Gold members this month.

The game offers 12 hours of intense action as players “live or re-live the story of Jade and her pig.” Talking about the gameplay of Beyond Good & Evil HD, its page on Ubisoft reads as follows.

“Freely explore the world of Hyllis, a beautifully unique world with its quirky inhabitants and very diverse alien wildlife. Walk the busy streets of Hyllis’ main city, infiltrate the dark and dangerous military base of the Alpha Brigades, or just cruise around the vast ocean for more adventurous.”

The game features puzzle games, epic boss fights, shooting, classic platforming, piloting hovercraft and 12 achievements to unlock. The Ubisoft Shanghai-developed game not only showcases enhanced graphics, — running at full 1080p — but this version also brought in upgraded textures, improved character models as well as remastered musical scores.

Unlike WWE 2k16, which is set to be free until the first half of next month, Beyond Good & Evil HD, traditionally worth $15, will only be a free game until August 31.

The free games offered every month for Xbox Live Gold members is under Microsoft’s Games with Gold program. “Twice a month, Xbox Live Gold members get exclusive access to a hand-selected collection of free games,” its description noted.

Xbox One Backward Compatibility further widens the coverage of Games with Gold. With this new feature, all the Xbox 360 games under the Backward Compatibility program will also be playable on the Xbox One console.

Aside from the free games, there are also discounted Xbox titles currently available for Xbox Live Gold members. The latest Deals with Gold program is offering 50 percent discount for the NBA 2K16 standard edition as well as the Michael Jordan Special Edition on Xbox One. NBA 2K16 Starter Pack Bundle and different VC packages of the basketball simulation video game are also on sale until Monday, August 15.

Capcom is also having a Publisher Sale this week for its Xbox games, according to a separate Major Nelson post. Included in the list of the games highly discounted until tomorrow are Ultra Street Fighter 4, Super Street Fighter 4, Street Fighter X Tekken, Resident Evil 5 & 6, Resident Evil HD and DmC Devil May Cry.
