Lisa Marie Presley Seeks Help To Stop Popping Pills

Lisa Marie Presley is a musician just like her father, but it seems she shares something else in common with Elvis. Both Elvis and now Lisa Marie have had a history of struggling with drug addiction. Unlike Elvis, however, Lisa is able to recognize that her addiction is a serious problem and is reaching out for help in getting her drug use under control. Ms. Presley has checked herself into a rehab clinic, hoping to clean herself up and get away from the drugs before they make her situation even worse.

Lisa Marie Presley Wants To Kick The Habit

US Weekly reports that multiple sources have confirmed that Lisa Marie has checked herself into a high end rehab center to get help in getting her prescription drug abuse under control. Ms. Presley has checked into the Hills Treatment Center in Los Angeles, which charges $400,000 per month in its in-patient treatment program. Presley has had a long history of battling addiction to prescription drugs, but it seems she’s serious about finally getting away from them in light of her willing admission into the treatment center.

“[I used] cocaine, sedatives, pot and drinking — all at the same time. I just couldn’t be sober,” Lisa Marie previously told Paper Magazine. “I don’t know how I lived through it.”

A source confirmed to US Weekly that Ms. Presley had been using painkillers more recently and that she was very serious about getting free from them before habitual use became a problem in itself.

“She’s doing OK, but needed to get this under control,” the source says of Presley’s drug use.

Drug Rehab Comes Just As Lisa Marie Files For Divorce

Just as the end of June passed, People magazine reported that Presley had filed for divorce from guitarist Michael Lockwood due to irreconcilable differences. The divorce petition, filed on June 13, was later amended to request a legal separation instead of a divorce. The change was due to unspecified legal complications and had nothing to do with the relationship between Lisa Marie and Lockwood. It has been confirmed that there’s no chance for a reconciliation.

“They’re not trying to work it out and get back together,” Presley’s lawyer, Ronald Litz, said. “She’s done.”

There are multiple reasons Ms. Presley is splitting from Lockwood, citing finances and child care as the primary catalysts for the separation. Michael was in charge of the couple’s finances and Lisa’s lawyer reveals that the guitarist didn’t act in Presley’s best interests. An earlier indication of trouble may have come when Presley and Lockwood entered into a prenuptial agreement during the course of their marriage. Litz says Lockwood had been taking advantage of Presley’s trust.

Additionally, Lisa Marie Presley has made claims on behalf of her children, 7-year-old twin daughters Harper Vivienne Ann and Finley Aaron Love. Lisa hasn’t made details public, but her lawyer has given some idea as to Presley’s concerns for her younger children.

“There are some problems with him being a good father, in terms of what a father is supposed to do,” says Litz.

Presley is seeking full custody of the children and Mr. Litz says he’s comfortable with pursuing that agenda based on the facts of Lisa’s case.

“I absolutely believe that what we’re asking for is necessary.”

Since the initial filing, Presley reported that she couldn’t speak for Lockwood as to what his reaction to the separation proceedings might be because she has been unable to reach him. Michael Lockwood has moved out of the couple’s home and his whereabouts were unknown at the time of People’s article.

Previously, Lisa Marie Presley has been married to Michael Jackson, Nicolas Cage, and Danny Keough. Presley shares two children, Ben Keough and actress Riley Keough, with Danny. Both of Lisa’s children from that marriage are adults.
