Perrie Edwards On ‘Therapeutic’ Songwriting Process: Is She Writing Songs About Zayn?

Fans will be happy to hear that Little Mix is working on their third album. Perrie Edwards has been loving the songwriting process lately. She says that she finds it “therapeutic.”

You can look forward to the follow-up to Little Mix’s latest album, Get Weird. Perrie Edwards, 23, just revealed that she’s been enjoying the recording and songwriting process. She admitted that the album process is a great way to get some things off her chest, according to her latest interview with Sugarscape.

“It’s very – and I know we probably said this about the last album – honest. It’s very what’s happening in the past few months or the past year. We’ve been through a lot personally, emotionally and career-wise. Every aspect, we’ve just wanted to just get off our chest and the best way to do it is with this album. That’s why we’re loving it so much. It’s like therapy.”

Don’t get them wrong, though. Perrie insisted that she still loves their latest release. Fans can still expect their new album to sound a lot like Get Weird, but it won’t have the same upbeat poppy songs like “Black Magic” or “Hair.” But, don’t expect another Salute either, says Perrie. It’s going to follow in the footsteps of Get Weird, it’s just that the singers plan to open more about what’s going on in their lives.

“We’re so obsessed with Get Weird that it has to be a step up. It’s another step from anything we’ve ever done before. It’s a lot more cool-sounding. It’s quite slick, but at the same time it’s kind of like Get Weird. It’s very Little Mix, that’s all you need to know. Still pop, still fun, a little bit of quirkiness; especially production-wise this time. Some of it’s quite chilled and laidback. You’re in for a treat.”

The girls wanted to make music for their fans this time around. Edwards says that they finally understand what kind of music their fans enjoy and they want to work hard to give that to them because “we love them and want to keep them happy.”

As for those DJ Snake collaboration rumors, don’t expect that to happen.

“I can confirm that’s a no,” Perrie said.

Perrie Edwards has a lot to sing about this time around. According to New Magazine, the pop star split from former One Direction singer Zayn Malik in 2015 after their two-year engagement. The news broke when Edwards and her bandmates, Jade Thirwall, Jesy Nelson, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock were in the middle of their promotional tour for Get Weird. Then, Edwards saw Malik move on with his new girlfriend, Gigi Hadid.

Since then, Perrie has been linked to series of men, including McFly guitarist Dougie Poynter, cites the source. She was also seen with a mysterious man during a recent outing at a nightclub. As seen in the photos published on The Mirror, Perrie was photographed leaving a London club with her backup dancer, Claudimar Neto. But, don’t assume that the two are dating. They’re just good friends, says the tabloid.

The blonde beauty was seen wearing a black mesh see-through dress paired with a bra and high-waisted bottoms. Her hair was worn straight with a mid-part and she completed her look with black stiletto sandals. But Edwards is not a blonde beauty anymore. She recently took to Instagram to show off her new pink ombre hairstyle.

In the series of photos, Perrie seen wearing a white mesh see-through dress with a colorful bikini underneath. She also wears her new pink hair pin-straight and then in braids. Perrie gave very little details as to whether her new hairstyle is a wig or as to who styled her hair. Fans will have to see if she will stick to this new look for Little Mix’s new album.
