WWE News: Paige’s Injury Could Be Much Worse Than Originally Thought

Paige has been out of action since the June 27 edition of Monday Nigh Raw and there’s been no indication of when she may possibly return to the WWE. In fact, Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Paige may have actually suffered nerve damage in her back and shoulder and he compared it to an injury similar to what other wrestlers have gone through.

“What a lot of the guys have had that had serious problems where the problem has led to weakness in the right arm which was the first stage for some major issues with a lot of the guys,” wrote Meltzer.

There had been rumors floating around that either Paige had been fired from WWE, or even that she was pregnant, but Paige’s mom, Saraya Knight, took to social media to squash those rumors.

Back on July 31, Paige posted a video to her Twitter page that showed her doing rows in the gym as she tried to prove to the world that she’s working her hardest to get back from her injury by strengthening her back and shoulder.

Prior to her injury, Paige was scheduled to team up with WWE Women’s Champion Sasha Banks on tour to take on Charlotte and Dana Brooke. WWE was forced to send a replacement on the tour due to Paige’s injury.

Despite being only 23-years-old, Paige has already established herself as one of the biggest names in the WWE Women’s Division. Paige made her debut on April 7, 2014, the night after WrestleMania XXX. She challenged WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee to a match and ended up becoming the youngest WWE Divas Champion in history at only 21-years-old.

Paige would go on to lose the title back to AJ Lee on the June 30, 2014, edition of Monday Night Raw, but won the title back at SummerSlam two months later. AJ Lee would end up beating Paige and Nikki Bella at Night of Champions the following September to reclaim the belt once again.

Prior to her successful debut in the WWE, Paige was the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion as she held the belt for a record 308 days. Paige is also the only woman to ever hold both the WWE Divas Championship and WWE NXT Women’s Championship at the same time.

The Women’s Division has really suffered due to the injuries to Paige and Nikki Bella. It’s left Sasha Banks and Charlotte as the main options in the Women’s Division on Monday Night Raw with Becky Lynch as the biggest name on SmackDown Live. WWE has tried to fill the gaps with Eva Marie, Nia Jax, Carmella, and Alexa Bliss all being called up from NXT in the WWE Draft, but the group has yet to win over the WWE Universe.

Hopefully, Nikki Bella and Paige can return in the next few weeks to inject some excitement into the WWE Women’s Division. It’ll be interesting to see where each ends up when healthy following the WWE Draft. It will likely be a case where one gets put on Raw while the other gets sent to SmackDown Live, but the WWE could obviously choose to send both to the same program since they’ve pretty good matches in the past.
