Rita Ora Shrugs Off Skinny Shamers, Says She Wants To Be Toned

Rita Ora is shrugging off the skinny-shamers who blasted her recently. The British pop star is sharing her thoughts on health and fitness after the recent skinny-shaming she received from her own fans. She denies that she wants to be as thin as possible. In fact, her top two priorities are being as healthy and fit as possible.

The 25-year-old songstress admitted that she’s not the “skinniest person in the world,” but she wants to make it clear that she doesn’t want to be skinny. Ora revealed in a new interview with Cosmopolitan, as quoted by SundayWorld, that she’s more focused on being the healthiest person because it comes naturally for her. Speaking out about how she stays in shape, Ora said that she doesn’t obsess over her weight.

“I’m more focused on toning rather than trying to be skinny, which I feel everyone should try because that comes more naturally.”

However, the Fifty Shades actress admitted that she does work out regularly and sticks to a diet.

“I do toning exercises, pilates, yoga or a bike. If I run, I only run for about 10-15 minutes, if that. I’m really focused on being healthy rather than anything else. I watch what I eat but I just cut my portions in half. So if I want a burger I’ll just cut it in half and eat half of that. That or I’ll take the bread off and only eat the burger. Or if I want fries then I won’t have a burger to go with it.”

As for what she eats on a regular day, Rita says she loves having smoothies and eggs for breakfast. When lunchtime rolls around, she’ll eat salmon, and then she has chicken for dinner. Rita’s other options include broccoli pizza, truffle pasta, or just a slice of pizza. She does admit that she enjoys the occasional soda or Slurpee.

“One of my guilty pleasures is sugary fizzy drinks. The ones that kids have that come in different colors,” she admitted.

However, Ora admits that staying true to her fitness and diet plan can be difficult because of her hectic schedule.

“I travel a lot so it’s hard to have a regime,” she told the women’s magazine.

Rita’s statements come nearly a month after fans feared that she was getting too skinny. According to a report via Fox News, fans flocked to Rita’s social media accounts after she showed off her toned physique in one of her many bikini photos. They showed their concern when she posted the following photo that showed off her taut tummy.

“Rita I love you so much but you look so skinny in this pic. Please stay healthy!” one fan wrote.

“Why is she sucking in? I can see her ribs and she’s already skinny,” another pondered.

Their concern came after Ora was admitted to the hospital for exhaustion. She took to Twitter to share the below photo of herself hooked up to an IV drip. While the entertainer didn’t reveal any specifics for her health scare, she thanked her fans for their thoughts and wishes.

“Today was pretty tough but I’m getting through it thank you for the support! I love you!! #exhaustionisreal,” she wrote in her tweet.

Rita has had a grueling schedule that’s filled with filming two new sequels, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, in which she reprises her role as Mia Grey. She also headed back to the recording studio after she was released from her contract with Jay Z’s label, Roc Nation. In addition, Rita has announced that she will be taking over for Tyra Banks on the new season of America’s Next Top Model.
