The latest batch of behind-the-scenes photos from director Jeff Wadlow’s Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall showcase co-star Jim Carrey in his official crime-fighting outfit, according to the folks at Cinema Blend. Although rumors were swirling around the internet about Carrey’s possible involvement in the upcoming sequel earlier this summer, his participation in the film wasn’t officially confirmed until recently.
Kick-Ass 2, which essentially picks up where the original installment left off, finds Jim Carrey portraying Colonel Stars, a character that assists the ragtag band of superheroes battle their arch enemy Red Mist, who is known known as The Mother F—er. The latest images from the feature showcase the Colonel’s military-inspired outfit, which comes equipped with a simple eye mask. In true Kick-Ass fashion, the outfit looks like something constructed from items in the character’s closet.
Being unfamiliar with the Kick-Ass comic books, my understanding of Colonel Star is based upon the knowledge of others. Cinema Blend reports that Carrey’s character is the “head of the crime-fighting team Justice Forever, but before he donned camo and rallied his troops against the powers of evil, he was mafia enforcer named Sal Bertolinni.”
Reel Empire reports that the latest batch of set photos from Kick-Ass 2 also give fans of the series a good look at the Red Mist’s revamped costume. He certainly looks a lot darker and a little meaner than his previous incarnation, suggesting that he may live up to his new potty-mouthed moniker.
These behind-the-scenes photos from Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall aren’t the only candid photos of Jim Carrey that have made the rounds as of late. Last week, The Inquisitr reported on the pictures of the Ace Ventura star and his bikini-clad 24-year-old girlfriend that were being circulated around various celebrity gossip websites. Prior to his current squeeze, Carrey was linked to 23-year-old Russian student Anastasia Vitkina.
