Tom Hiddleston Joins Instagram, Robert Downey Jr. Mocks His Taylor Swift Shirt

Tom Hiddleston shocked a lot of Hiddlestoners when he used a T-shirt to profess his love for Taylor Swift. However, Robert Downey Jr. isn’t convinced that his Avengers co-star is really head over heels for the “Bad Blood” singer. According to Downey Jr., Tom’s heart really belongs to the man in the Iron Man mask.

As Time reports, Hiddleston decided to join Instagram on Tuesday, and his first post had nothing to do with his famous girlfriend. Instead of sharing a Hiddleswift selfie with his fans, the actor posted a photo taken on the set of the set of Thor: Ragnarok. Hiddleston is all decked out as trickster god Loki in his solo selfie, and he’s mischievously grinning and winking at his fans. It’s the only picture he’s posted on his account so far.

Unfortunately for Hiddleston, Robert Downey Jr. decided to see if he could make his friend instantly regret joining Instagram. Downey Jr. welcomed Hiddleston to the social media site by sharing a much-mocked photo of the British star that was taken during Taylor Swift’s big Fourth of July blowout at her home in Rhode Island. Instead of helping Swift celebrate America’s Independence from Great Britain by rocking patriotic red, white, and blue attire, Hiddleston wore a white tank top that read “I Heart T.S.”

Fans assumed that Tom’s shirt was a profession of love for Taylor, but RDJ doesn’t think that this is the case. According to the Captain America: Civil War star, the “T.S.” on Tom’s shirt actually stands for “Tony Stark.”

“Join me in welcoming the biggest T. Stark fan of them all to Instagram! @twhiddleston,” Downey Jr. captioned his Hiddleston photo.

As Elle reports, the internet had a field day mocking Hiddleston’s tank top when photos of it first started circulating online. There were jokes that the Night Manager star had lost a bet, and some fans speculated that he was only wearing the shirt because Swift had cast him in a music video. Others found Tom Hiddleston’s “T.S., I love you tank” so unsavory that they had a hard time believing that he was actually dating Taylor Swift at all. There was even speculation that Hiddleston was using the “Shake It Off” singer to engage in some sort of Joaquin Phoenix-esque performance art.

However, the Hollywood Reporter was soon able to confirm that Hiddleswift was real. During a July 14 interview, the publication asked Hiddleston to respond to the speculation that his relationship with Swift was just a publicity stunt.

“That notion is — look, the truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together, and we’re very happy. Thanks for asking. That’s the truth. It’s not a publicity stunt,” Hiddleston revealed.

RDJ gave Hiddlestoners, Hiddleswifties, and Marvel movie fans one day to delight over his hilarious Instagram post before issuing his response to Tom Hiddleston’s T-shirt message, and it looks like the actor is shipping Loki and Tony Stark pretty hard. As you can see, Stark has returned Loki’s love.

RDJ has also discovered some pretty kinky Loki and Tony Stark fan art while Googling himself, and he couldn’t resist sharing the Avengers/Fifty Shades of Grey mashup with his fans.

While RDJ thinks that Tom Hiddleston being on Instagram is totally hilarious, some fans are taking his new account very seriously. As E! News reports, Hiddleswifties are freaking out because Tom is not following Taylor’s Instagram account, and they fear this is a sign that the couple has called it quits. However, Tom isn’t following anyone at all right now, so it doesn’t look like he’s purposely snubbing his girlfriend.
