As previously reported by The Inquisitr, NBC’s preview clip for the new season of Days Of Our Lives shows the return of Clyde Weston (James Read). He doesn’t break out of prison by himself, though. He brings along two jail buddies who each have connections to Salem and want revenge. One is Orpheus (George Deloy) and the other is Xander Cook. One scene in the preview clip has fans worried for Theresa’s safety.

As seen in the preview clip below, Theresa is getting ready to marry Brady Black (Eric Martsolf). As she stands in front of her mirror wearing her wedding dress, she sees a face that brings fear to her eyes. Spinning around, Theresa realizes that her eyes are not playing tricks on her. Xander Cook has returned to Salem, and he wants revenge. He puts his hands around Theresa’s neck and begins to strangle her. Does Xander kill Theresa on Days Of Our Lives?

Back in early June, Jen Lilley announced her departure on Instagram. The actress revealed that fans would see Theresa Donovan on Days Of Our Lives for six more months. That means the character is not going anywhere until the end of the year.

It is with bittersweet sentiment that I find myself making this statement 6 months too soon. First, I would like to say your comments, support, and well wishes regarding my recent departure from the iconic daytime drama, Days of Our Lives, have melted my heart. Second, I have never enjoyed playing a character so much. I absolutely love Theresa, and the idea of not playing her pains me. I once found a quote that perfectly describes her, “She’s a mess of gorgeous chaos, you can see it in her eyes.” Exploring Theresa, from her insecurities to her strengths, from her tendency to deflect emotional anguish with comedy to her firecracker spirit has been pure joy. I hate to dissatisfy our love for black and white explanations, but there’s no one to point your finger at here. Days of Our Lives and I are parting company on the best of terms. It came down to time and the sacrifices required to keep Theresa on the front burner. Given the demanding production schedule a soap requires, that just wasn’t possible with the other commitments and opportunities I wanted to pursue. As we all know in the world of soaps, good bye for now isn’t always good bye forever, who knows what the future has in store for Theresa. I am taking time right now to be with my family, advance the charitable causes I believe in, and pursue additional career opportunities. While I've missed so many moments in my family's lives back east, I have built a west coast family at Days of Our Lives, and they haven't seen the last of me! I'll be stopping by the set from time to time with baked goods and bear hugs. Lastly, cheer up! There are 6 more wonderful months of Theresa to enjoy. And I can honestly say that each month, the storyline gets better! My exit will have you on the edge of your seat, laughing, crying, cheering, screaming, clapping, and bewildered. And to the Theresa’s out there: I love you, I love you, I love you. You are not alone. You are beautiful and worthy of love and happiness and joy and success! May my storyline over the next six months inspire you.

With that being said, Jen Lilley’s final air date on Days Of Our Lives does not mean that Thresa Donovan won’t die on the soap opera. Remember, the NBC preview was for the new season instead of the typical weekly preview clip. This means that the scene with Theresa and Xander could take place in a few weeks or a few months from now. Fans should also keep in mind that, before Brady and Theresa marry, the couple will need to find their kidnapped son, Tate. They will also want the person responsible arrested. A lot of things are gong to have to happen before the wedding takes place, which is when Xander Cook tries to kill Theresa Donovan.

Speaking of Tate’s kidnapper, the preview clip also shows that Brady announces to everyone that Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) is being arrested for conspiracy to kidnap Tate. He is seen behind bars, but a later scene reveals he attends Brady and Theresa’s wedding on Days Of Our Lives. Theresa is convinced he had something to do with Tate’s kidnapping, and Brady also has his suspicions. Unless something changes, there is no way that Brady and Theresa would want Victor at the wedding. Knowing how much Victor hates Theresa, he would never attend, which makes his presence quite unusual.

It is not known how the writers will have Theresa leave Days Of Our Lives. Will she be murdered, die from an illness, or land in a coma? Could she leave Salem on her own or will Jen Lilley’s character be recast? This is what they did with Kate Mansi. She played Abigail Devereaux and chose Marci Miller to take over the role. Fans will have to wait to find out. In the meantime, there is plenty of time to speculate.

What do you think will happen with Jen Lilley’s character? Will Xander kill Theresa?
