Taylor Swift’s New Album: Fans May Wait Another Year, Says Label Rep

Taylor Swift’s fans have been having major withdrawals since her “1989 World Tour” wrapped up in December of last year. Ever since then, the singer has hinted that she’s taking an extended hiatus from making new music. However, that hasn’t kept Taylor out of the headlines when it comes to her personal life and celebrity feuds.

Amid the rumors that the 26-year-old is writing songs about love, loss, and frenemies, rumors are swirling that she may drop a new album as soon as this October. Taylor Swift has dropped a new album every October since her 2006 self-titled debut album, according to a new report on Time. The only time she didn’t follow suit was when she released her 2008 album, Fearless, in November.

This coming October will mark two years since her last album, 1989. Both fans and the media have been wondering whether Swift will drop a surprise new album on her fans. Her label says that her fans will have to wait another year for some new music.

After a fan pondered the theory on Twitter, Scott Borchetta, the president and CEO of Big Machine Records, responded with a huge “NOPE” in all caps, as reported by USA Today.

Fans still assumed that Swift would release new music this coming fall even though she hinted that she’s on a break. Although a new Swift album would correlate with her release schedule, she’s not letting it happen. Back in May, she told Vogue that she plans to live her life away from the spotlight, even if she’s still in the spotlight. Swift seemed to struggle with her words as she figured out what she was going to do with all her free time.

“I’m always going to be writing songs. The thing is, with me, I could very well come up with three things in the next two weeks and then jump back into the studio, and all of a sudden the next record is started. That’s an option, too.”

However, it’s just not happening at the moment.

“I would really like to take a little time to learn things. I have lots of short-term goals. I want to be a well-rounded person who can make a good drink. To be able to save somebody if they’re drowning.”

Then, back in November of last year, Swift mentioned to NME Magazine she feared that she has become overexposed and thinks she needs to take some time out of the spotlight. Since then, she debuted her platinum hair on the cover of Vogue and co-chaired the Met Gala. Swift’s comments came long before she became overexposed amid her ongoing feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.

“I think I should take some time off. I think people might need a break from me. I’m going to… I don’t know. Hang out with my friends. Write new music. Maybe not write new music. I don’t know.”

Swift sounded unsure about what to do with herself like she did in her Vogue interview. Those words also echoed the transcript of Kanye West’s phone conversation with Swift, which was revealed on Time. After he recited the lyrics to his controversial song “Famous,” Swift said that the song would bring her this close to “overexposure.”

Now, it looks like Swift is making headlines for hew newfound relationship with Tom Hiddleston. The paparazzi has been tracking her every move, whether she’s on a trip with her new beau or heading to the gym. The last fans heard about Swift’s new album, it was reported that she was writing new songs inspired by her relationship. An alleged source told Hollywood Life that Hiddleston has become Swift’s new muse for her new album. Expect fewer breakup songs and more love songs this time around.

“Tom’s love has been great for Taylor and he has been a great source of creative energy for her. He listens to all her musical ideas and has been encouraging her as she writes new lyrics for songs — and she has lots to write about. The whole process has been easy for her as long as Tom is around. He really has been a new muse for Taylor.”
