‘American Horror Story’ Creators Reveal Truth Behind Season 6 Theme

American Horror Story Season 6 has thrown quite a few teases at fans of the FX show over the past few months. Those teases include six video teasers, posters, official photos, and on-set pics snapped by TMZ during the production. However, there is only one gospel behind all of the teasers that the creators of American Horror Story have released, and they are just now releasing the truth behind this campaign of secrecy.

The first thing that fans of American Horror Story need to realize is that not everything you see in a media teaser, a poster, or even a set photo will be the truth. These are things that creators of movies and TV shows have used for years to stir up hype about a specific new project they have coming up. It is kind of like reading a catchy headline and duping people into clicking on an article.

The creators of American Horror Story are no different in this respect. That catchy headline was carefully substituted with video of a possible hint at the theme for Season 6 of American Horror Story, but in reality, it has nothing to do with it, according to Indiewire.

The things that fans already know about Season 6 of American Horror Story are, in fact, misdirections the producers of American Horror Story wanted you to see so that everyone would be talking about it on social media, which seems to have been a successful campaign. Of course, that could also lead to some backlash.

While speaking at the TCA Press Tour this year, FX CEO John Landgraf said that he had no intention of revealing the theme for Season 6 of American Horror Story.

“We decided, Ryan [Murphy] and I and [marketing president] Stephanie Gibbons, that it would be really fun this year… to keep it a mystery,” John Landgraf said. “There is a theme and a setting and a place and time, but we’re not going to reveal it.”

“Really fun” could be damaging words to use for fans of American Horror Story. For one thing, that is like admitting that you are toying with people’s emotions about a show. Fans learned that it was all a cat-and-mouse game, and they were never going to find anything out about this season of American Horror Story. Their time was essentially wasted, which takes it to a whole different level that could lead to some damaging reactions.

But there was one more thing that was revealed about Season 6 of American Horror Story at the TCA Press Tour this year. The video teasers that were released were completely false, with the exception of one of them.

“One is accurate; all the rest are misdirect,” Landgraf told reporters at the TCA Press Tour.

But not all of John Landgraf’s comments at the TCA event were like this. He did make some interesting comments about the lifespan of American Horror Story on FX.

“We haven’t talked about an end game for American Horror Story,” Landgraf said. “As long as you [American Horror Story creators and producers] come up with good ideas, you can keep on going. Its only limits are your story and imagination.”

Fans of American Horror Story might just have to wait until the September 14 premiere of the show on FX before they get any answers to their burning questions about the theme for Season 6. It does not appear that FX or the producers of American Horror Story will release any of those details ahead of time. But there is good evidence to suggest that the lost Roanoke Island colony will have a big part to play in Season 6.
