Honey Boo Boo Drama: Sugar Bear Won’t Lose His Leg After All
If you were losing sleep over whether or not Honey Boo Boo’s dad Sugar Bear would lose his leg after sustaining injuries in an ATV accident, then you can prepare for a weekend of blissful slumber. According to the Examiner, recent reports regarding Sugar Bear’s impending amputation are 100 percent false. For the time being, his limb remains firmly attached to his body.
In case you missed the drama, here’s what happened: While riding his all-terrain vehicle, Honey Boo Boo’s father Sugar Bear experienced a bit of an accident. The injuries he sustained to his leg soon developed a nasty infection, one that doctors were forced to treat with surgery. As word about the operation started to spread across the internet, the story began to mutate. Before long, numerous media outlets were reporting that Sugar Bear was scheduled to lose his leg.
June Shannon, Honey Boo Boo’s mother, told TMZ that her husband is expected to fully recover from his injury/infection, and that his leg will survive the ordeal intact. The family has reportedly visited Sugar Bear in the hospital after his operation, and stated that he’s already craving junk food. In four weeks, he should be well enough to return to work.
“He is doing better. He’s recovering very well,” June Shannon told Radar Online. “He is not getting his leg amputated, what it was he had a four wheeler wreck a couple weeks ago and his leg was badly bruised. Well the wound that was on top they said it would drain, and on Saturday they said it was healing but it wasn’t healing as well as they would like so they put him in the hospital to give him antibiotics on IV.”
June went on to say that doctors were extremely pleased with the progress her husband has made. “Sugar Bear is a big baby, when he gets hurt he’s a big baby and he likes us to stay and when we have to leave he doesn’t like it,” she said.
Here’s hoping Sugar Bear will be able to join June Shannon and company at home to watch the season finale of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo on September 26.
