Obama To Canada If Trump Wins? No, But Obama Bobs His Head To ‘Lose Yourself’ By Eminem [Video]

According to Facebook’s search engine, typing the words “Obama Canada” into the social networking site’s search bar proves 44,889 people are talking about the topic. More than 30,000 people are talking about the sentence, “I will move to Canada if Mitt Romney wins re-elect,” wondering if President Obama uttered those words. At least 1,000 people on Facebook are talking about the subject, “Barack Obama for Prime Minister of Canada.” So, why are all these strange search terms trending?

As reported by Snopes, words being attributed to Mr. Obama did not come from President Obama. As seen in tweets like the following, President Obama is being credited with saying that Canada would never elect a person as incompetent and buffoonish as Donald Trump.

The falsehoods came from a satire site called the Burrard Street Journal.

Most folks don’t realize that “Burrard Street” translates to “BS” for short, and they are taking the article as the gospel truth, along with its claims that President Obama would take the entire Obama Family to Canada in the event that “The Donald” became President Trump.

Several clues to the humor within the fake article, such as President Obama calling Trump “the Donald,” along with quips about Canada allowing rich people to move to the country unfettered, should have tipped folks off that it was pure satire. However, some organizations and people online assumed that Mr. Obama and family would really move to Canada if Trump wins.

“President Obama has admitted for the first time, that he and his family are ‘seriously considering’ moving to Canada if Donald Trump is elected the 46th president of the United States. The news comes after Obama launched a scathing attack on Trump, calling him ‘woefully unprepared’ and ‘unfit to be president.'”

“The current U.S. president was speaking to the White House press corps when he expressed his ‘deep disappointment’ with the republican party’s nominee, leading him and the First Lady to explore other options. ‘It’s something Michelle, the kids and I have discussed as a potential solution to the Donald,’ he said. ‘I have also spoken with Prime Minister Trudeau who outlined Canada’s generous immigration policy for wealthy individuals, so we’ll see.'”

Whereas that report about Mr. Obama moving his family to Canada was not true, it is true that President Obama was caught rocking out to Eminem’s powerful “Lose Yourself” song prior to the president’s rousing speech at the Democratic National Convention.

As seen in both of the below videos, Mr. Obama bobs his head along to the song, which was featured prominently in Eminem’s 8 Mile movie. “Lose Yourself” has inspiring lyrics about losing yourself in the music, owning your moment, and not missing your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when it comes around.

As reported by the Telegraph, apparently President Obama found the 2002 hit by Eminem pretty inspiring.

Meanwhile, reactions to the fake Canada story have folks wondering aloud via their social media platforms whether or not Mr. Obama would relocate to Canada prior to Trump being inaugurated, making the assumption that it wouldn’t be Hillary Clinton and Bill standing on that platform as Hillary is sworn in as the first female president of the U.S.

As seen in the featured photo above, President Obama pointed on Sunday, August 7 as he putted on the first green. Mr. Obama was playing golf in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts on Martha’s Vineyard.

Instead of heading up to Canada to scope out any new digs or rental spots, as the fake article may have had some assuming, Mr. Obama and the entire Obama Family were on vacation on the Massachusetts island of Martha’s Vineyard.
