Katy Perry Embarks On Spiritual Journey, Tweets Pic From Atop A Volcano

Pop star Katy Perry has embarked on a spiritual journey to an unnamed country, apparently taking inspiration from the Julia Roberts movie Eat, Pray, Love.

While the singer hasn’t disclosed her location (most of her fans suggest she’s in Bali), it is somewhere that includes a volcano, as Perry took to Twitter on Wednesday, posting a picture of her self on top of a mountain with her arms outstretched, reports The San Francisco Chronicle.

Perry captioned the shot, “I ate, I prayed, I climbed a volcano,” a statement that seems to be a play on Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoir Eat, Pray, Love.

The star also told fans that she is getting in touch with her spiritual side through meditation and cleansing her chakras. For those unfamiliar, chakras are a part of Hinduism and Buddhism and are believed to be the body’s energy centers. She first tweeted, “I can feel the phoenix rising,” later adding that, “Starting the day with a group meditate… breakfast of champions… Getting some s— out my chakra’s (sic),” notes The Daily Mail.

Katy Perry spoke last year about how she planned to take time out of the spotlight, in order to spend time traveling the world. The pop star stated:

“I wanna have these life adventures and experiences that are not related to work, so that I can come back after I’ve done that and make another, hopefully, good record… I’m planning a wilderness adventure where you go out for the weekend and you learn how to hunt and gather and then make fire.”

Katy Perry’s divorce from British comedian Russell Brand was finalized in July, so it’s also possible that the singer’s spiritual journey is a way for her to cleanse herself and start over, much like in Eat, Pray Love, which Gilbert wrote after her own divorce.
