Sophie Turner Turns Blonde: A ‘Game of Thrones’ Plot Spoiler?

Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner colored her hair blonde—does this mean a new Game of Thrones plot twist? Is she a Targaryen like Jon Snow after all?

We all know Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones. She has been a major character in Game of Thrones since season one, where we witnessed our first heartbreak: the death of her father, Ned Stark. And one of Sansa’s most striking features, apart of course from her beautiful face, is her long, strawberry locks.

Sophie Turner has attracted much media attention over the course of Game of Thrones, especially as she evolves into a more beautiful woman by the year. Her red hair compliments her pale complexion, and she has been the envy of many women.

However, as Game of Thrones Season 6 ends and filming for Game of Thrones season 7 commences, Sophie Turner unveils a drastic change via her Instagram account. With the caption “I did a thing…..????????” Turner posts a photo of herself and her new platinum blonde hair.

I did a thing..... ????????

As of writing, the post has already garnered more than 300,000 likes and almost 11,000 comments. And these fan comments, instead of praising Turner’s new look (which looks particularly beautiful, by the way), turned to speculating what this could mean for her Game of Thrones character, Sansa Stark.

kittycat.chatnoir: @clickomaniac1522 no, with hair that Blonde she’s a Targaryen

clickomaniac1522: @vasundharalatwal, @judejohn47 : She’s a Lannister????

niranjan_seram: A new khaleesi be careful @emilia_clarke????????

samoberdubose: Wait, shouldn’t they be filming season 7 about now? And if so then why is she blonde??? She’s been one of very few main female actresses that did not use a wig :/ I hope this doesn’t mean she was killed off????

It seems a lot of fans are convinced that this new look by Sophie Turner will be affecting the destiny of her Game of Thrones character. As the comments speculate, because of the hair, she could be another secret Targaryen, much like the recently revealed Targaryen, Jon Snow (A long-known bastard, Game of Thrones’ finale reveals Jon Snow’s parents as Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark). Well that’s not too absurd a theory, either, since basically anything is possible in Game of Thrones. If a legitimately dead person can rise back, why not another secret lineage?

Filming of Game of Thrones season 7 has been postponed according to Fox News because the production would have to wait for the sunny season to end in order to shoot. Two things: Sophie Turner’s hair transformation can only mean she’s preparing for something that Sansa Stark will be undergoing in Game of Thrones Season 7, or she’s just playing around before filming resumes again.

Yo. I'm about to do an @entertainmentweekly Instagram takeover... Go check it out

But regardless of all these speculations, in truth, Sophie Turner’s natural color is not actually the strawberry red that we know. Ace Showbiz notes that Turner is a natural blonde, as we have seen from her baby photo in Body Building’s forums that has been circulating online. Maybe she just misses her old hair color.

It seems Sophie Turner will have more time for other things since Game of Thrones hasn’t started filming. This is why Turner is set to join Dylan McDermott and Jack Kilmer in independent drama Huntsville. Dark Horizons reports that Huntsville will follow the story of a solitary man in a Florida town, who develops a questionable relationship with a recently transplanted high school student. Sophie Turner will start filming Huntsville this month with director Eric England, to the script of Anthony Ragnone.

While we wait for more information about the physical transformation from Turner and for more updates regarding Season 7 of Game of Thrones, maybe let’s watch, again, her impersonation of Jon Snow and Justin Bieber.

Game of Thrones Season 7 will be coming back Summer 2017. It has also been confirmed in a previous Inquisitr article that Game of Thrones will officially be ending after Season 8.
