Dj Khaled states that he has the keys to success and it turns out he is right. The Miami DJ’s ninth studio album Major Key claimed the number one spot on the Billboard 200 album charts. While DJ Khaled has a plethora of hit singles, this is his first album to claim the number one spot, according to Billboard.
Khaled’s positive attitude and humor turned him into the Snapchat king. He has over 15 million followers on social media accounts, where he frequently gives his fans advice on “keys to success.” The DJ gave the social media platform credit for helping him connect with his fans.
Many fans consider Major Key Dj Khaled’s best work with features from regular collaborators, such as Future, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, and French Montana. Khaled also got verses from Hip Hop legends Jay Z, Nas, and Jadakiss.
Major Key reportedly sold 96,000 equivalent album units in its first week, which includes streaming. According to Hits Daily Double, Dj Khaled’s ninth effort sold approximately 59,345 pure US copies during the official tracking week.
Many fans were looking forward to “Nas Album Done,” which features New York legend Nas who rarely does features. The title of the track suggests that Nas is coming out with a new album and it contains a sample from the iconic Fugees from the song “Fu-Gee-La.”
“He knew exactly what he wanted. He had a couple of ideas, but the one we put out, that was the one he really wanted,” Nas told Complex magazine. “I texted Ms. Lauryn Hill to ask her if she was cool, she said she was cool. She signed off on it, she gave me the approval … I just wanted to get her blessing and we were good.”
Fugees songwriter and singer Lauryn Hill was honored by Dj Khaled’s gesture and sent him a thank you note, which reads as above in the Instagram post.
Salaam is a music producer who worked on the song. Hill also talks about her son Zion dropping bars on the same song recently.
Lauryn Hill then sends her blessings to DJ Khaled who is having a child with his longtime partner and starting a family.
“May God bless your family and the arrival of your new child. I also remember that Humble Lion show! Grace and peace to both of you.”
Dj Khaled paid tribute to the singer a week ago on Instagram praising her talents, as well as the story behind clearing the sample.
It has been a successful year for the Miami DJ. Khaled has signed with Apple music and Roc Nation. This has led to more opportunities for the record producer who went on the Formation World Tour with Beyoncé.
In a recent Breakfast Club interview, DJ Khaled talks about the idea of putting the birth of his child on Snapchat. When quizzed about his enthusiasm, he states that he has to love the product his is promoting. He also confirms that the Major Key album cover features a real lion and gave some insight as to how his was protected from a potential attack.
DJ Khaled also addressed the situation with Ace Hood, who used to be signed to his label.
“Everybody makes their own decisions, but at the end of the day, we got love,” he says. “I can’t speak for him, I don’t know what he’s thinking but at the end of the day, we bless him, we love him. I been with him from the birth of Ace Hood so I’ve supported him, and I’m always going to love him. If he ever needs me I’m here to support 100 percent.”
Ace Hood responded to the interview stating that it wasn’t the whole truth. However, Khaled has not addressed him publicly.
