‘RHOC’ Star Tamra Judge Talks Nasty Custody Battle, ‘Horrible’ Relationship With Daughter Sidney

Tamra Judge’s lengthy custody battle with Simon Barney has had lasting effects, especially in regards to her relationship with daughter Sidney.

In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Real Housewives of Orange County star finally opened up about the drama surrounding her family life. Is her relationship with Sidney as horrible as it sounds?

Surprisingly, Judge claims that she isn’t going through a custody battle with Barney and that she is still close with all of her children.

“I’ve never lost custody of any of my kids,” Judge explained. “I hear that all the time… I’m not going through a custody battle.”

After Judge’s divorce from Barney in 2014, Sidney decided to stay with dad full time. Sadly, Judge’s communication with Sidney slowly declined and she was forced to take the teenager to a therapist.

According to OK Magazine, Judge revealed that Sidney suffers from parental alienation.

“It’s sad, and hard, and horrible, and it’s happening all over the world,” Judge shared. “It’s when a kid gets stuck in the middle… There was no huge thing that happened between us. It wasn’t like we were fighting or screaming at each other. It was nothing like that.”

She Knows reported that parental alienation is more common than most people think.

After all, children are often caught by surprise when their parents split and have trouble understanding what is happening.

The most important thing parents can do is prevent a communications breakdown with their kids. This is something that Judge is working hard to fix with Sidney.

“I’ve gotten so many emails from children that have gone through it, and the thing that they always say to me is, ‘Never stop communicating with her. Even if she doesn’t answer, send her a text message. Send her an email. Send her whatever you can,'” Judge said.

Unfortunately, Judge has a difficult time talking with Sidney because she is with her dad all the time. While Judge isn’t engaged in a custody battle at the moment, she did share how Barney tried to get custody of all three of their kids. Fortunately, the judge declined the motion and the two agreed on a custody plan.

“As a result of [the drama], [Sidney’s] brother, Spencer, lives with me full time and he doesn’t speak to his dad,” Judge said.

Tamra Judge’s relationship with Barney is clearly still strained, but that doesn’t mean she is giving up on the situation.

Instead, Judge is actively trying to work out a solution and bring her family together again. The only question is whether or not Barney and Sidney will agree to Judge’s terms.

“It’s a mess. I have asked, like, ‘Can the four of us sit down?’… I truly believe kids need both their parents,” Judge explained. “They need both of them to be healthy, successful, happy adults. Now, the situation is just so messed up and [Barney] won’t agree to it.”

Despite her ongoing family woes, Judge has high hopes that things will eventually work themselves out.

For now, Judge is taking things one step at a time and is keeping the doors of communication open with her daughter.

“Every single week, I send her something,” she stated. “‘Thinking of you’… it’s all I can do.”

Meanwhile, rumors about Judge’s nasty custody battle continue to persist, largely because of her broken relationship with Sidney.

Hopefully, Judge will be able to work things out with her daughter in the near future and move on to the next chapter in her life.
