Ian Somerhalder And Nikki Reed Sabotaging Nina Dobrev’s Return To ‘The Vampire Diaries’?

Production for Season 8 of The Vampire Diaries is underway and fans still don’t know if Nina Dobrev will return.

The upcoming season will mark the end of the hit series, and creator Julie Plec has already hinted about Dobrev’s possible return. However, are Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed trying to stop her from making a final cameo?

According to Morning News USA, Somerhalder was asked about Dobrev’s return during Comic-Con in San Diego and quickly dismissed the question entirely.

“No, you’re not gonna get ’em,” he replied.

However, Plec told fans about a promise Dobrev made to her after she left the show in Season 6. Apparently, Dobrev told Plec that she would return for the series finale to wrap up Elena’s storyline.

In response, Somerhalder appeared very confused.

“I thought we had a conversation about that, apparently not,” he told Plec.

Does this mean that Somerhalder wants Dobrev to stay away from the show?

For his part, Somerhalder moved on and eventually married Reed.

Unfortunately, their marriage has faced divorce rumors over the past couple of months. Somerhalder’s strained marriage is one reason why Reed allegedly doesn’t want him to work with Dobrev again.

Meanwhile, Melty is reporting that Kat Graham also weighed in on Dobrev’s possible return.

“I’m the worst person to ask because I know nothing,” Graham admitted. “Obviously [Dobrev’s return] has my vote, and we want the most amazing outcome as a cast and as a crew, and I’m sure the writing staff. And we just are always supportive of [Dobrev] and her journey, and it would be great, obviously.”

For now, it still isn’t clear if Dobrev will reprise her role in the final season of The Vampire Diaries.

Whatever happens, Celeb Dirty Laundry reports that Dobrev is happy with how everything turned out after her split with Ian Somerhalder.

Apparently, Dobrev feels like she dodged a bullet when she broke up with Somerhalder and is glad she left the show to pursue a career in the movie industry.

Indeed, the actress landed a number of different roles since her last appearance on The Vampire Diaries. This includes parts in xXx: The Return of Zander Cage, Flatliners, and Crash Pad.

In contrast, Somerhalder’s career seems like it is on the decline, especially after The Vampire Diaries ends next year. So far, Somerhalder has not stated whether or not he will continue acting.

With Dobrev’s movie career on the rise, and considering her beef with Somerhalder and Reed, the actress’s return to the hit TV show is not looking good.

That being said, there is a possibility that Dobrev will star in the coming season, but not as Elena.

According to Parent Herald, Season 8 will feature a new female villain.

“The villain, as of right now, is this amazing female bada**,” Graham stated. “It’s going to be good.”

Will Dobrev play the part of the new villain?

Dobrev recorded a voice over for the Season 7 finale, which is a good indication that she will be included to some degree in the coming season.

If Dobrev does return to the show, then it is clear that Somerhalder is not happy about it. In fact, the actor told fans during the Comic-Con panel that there is only an 18.75 percent chance that Dobrev will make a cameo.

Despite Somerhalder’s negative comments, he remains adamant that his relationship with Dobrev is amicable.
