Why Selena Gomez Still Needs Our Help With Finding Her A Boyfriend
Selena Gomez formally posted a kind of “job opening” for a boyfriend on June 20 and still she remains empty-handed. What ails Selena? What makes real love so elusive for the “Hands To Myself” singer when it seems so easy for her BFF Taylor Swift who is currently on cloud nine?
Further, Justin Bieber, her boyfriend between 2011 and 2014, has been busy sowing his oats and having the time of his life with young and lovely ladies like Hailey Baldwin, Nicola Peltz, Chantel Jeffries and most recently, swimwear model and young entrepreneur Sahara Ray, according to E! News.
Alas, it’s time to help Selena Gomez out before she has another crying-on-stage episode or a bizarre Instagram moment when she feels utterly disoriented, unconnected and unauthentic to herself, her music and her creative genius — as reported by ABC News last month.
Going further back in time, Selena Gomez showed up on an episode of James Corden’s immensely popular Carpool Karaoke on June 20, crying Lord please give me a lover. Well not exactly in those desperate words, but close. According to ET, she asked Corden to please find her a boyfriend — and she had asked not once, but twice.
Let’s itemize Selena Gomez’ special request to make it very clear.
Job Opening: Boyfriend with the following requirements.
- Fun to the max — Selena has no plans of boring herself to death.
- No specific age requirements — Selena is cool with finding someone much older than herself.
- Must have a bad boy image or at least looks the part (hint: the specific image definitely turns the singer on).
- Said boyfriend must keep all his promises.
- Romantic no matter what.
- Honest — 100 percent of the time.
Is that too much to ask? The Selena Gomez search criteria seem reasonable enough. She is clearly not asking for an arm and a leg. However, in a recent interview with Vogue Australia, it appears that the singer and actress has some additional requirements.
“The guys that do have the confidence to hit on me are not necessarily my type, but they think they are because I’m a pop star, I sing songs, do movies, I like to feel sexy and confident on stage,” Selena Gomez confides to the source.
Selena also told Vogue Australia the following.
“I’d be so stoked with a writer or producer or actor who is low-key, but those kinds of guys are terrified of me!”
Selena Gomez also said that she may be busy right now with back-to-back concerts in Asia, “but I like to have fun, I like to hang out.”

Translation: Busy as she is right now, she will move heaven and earth to find time for a worthy applicant.
So now, let’s put Selena’s additional requirements in proper writing as follows.
Additional requirements (as of August 6):
- Showbiz personalities need not apply, please — Selena Gomez is on the lookout for a “low-key” relationship.
- A writer or producer is welcome to apply.
- The applicant must also be versatile like Selena to adjust his schedule accordingly: no long-distance relationships accepted (no exceptions).
So there you go, Selena Gomez has spoken. Kindly hurry up before the lady sings the blues. Also, although Selena did not put a specific timeline on her request, based on her expressed needs, she needs someone to fill the position asap. Why she has posted the job opening since June 20.
Back to the original ET article, Selena also mentioned that she is already actively dating on the down-low — but apparently it’s not working out for her. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be so vocal about her job requirements. That little bit of extra detail should communicate to all applicants the star’s current state of affairs.
And lastly, please do not think that you are applying for a job. This is the furthest thing from Selena Gomez’s mind. An attempt has been made to format Selena’s request in a formal, upfront fashion in order to facilitate, if not speed up, the selection process.
