‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Spoilers: Everything Known So Far About The Characters, Hopper, Demogorgan, Eleven, And More

The world has been taken over by Stranger Things, and it has still been less than a month since the first season was released on Netflix. It has been confirmed that a second will be coming, but an exact date isn’t quite evident yet. What has been revealed is that it will be darker and continue in the ’80s, but there are some other things that are yet to be divulged. Here is everything that is known so far about what has happened and what may be to come.

Spoiler Alert – Please note that there are possible spoilers ahead for the first season of Stranger Things. If you have not yet watched it or simply don’t want to know what happens, you may want to stop reading now.

A lot of things were cleared up at the end of the eighth episode, but there were a number of doors that were left open. It’s amazing to see how much saw a conclusion but how many other things were started up, and it wasn’t even known if a second run would be granted.

Netflix chief executive Reed Hastings did not say that an official deal is in place for a second season, but told The Guardian, “we would be dumb not to.” He has a point, and with the following plot points ready to go, here is what’s already known.

What is Sheriff Hopper hiding?

Sheriff Hopper (David K. Harbour) was determined to figure out what happened to Will and what exactly the government was doing experiments on. As he revealed midway through the season, he knew “everything” that was going on inside that lab and he had figured it all out.

Once the Demogorgan was defeated and all was said and done, Sheriff Hopper was picked up by two men dressed in suits and taken away somewhere. At the very end of the final episode, he took some chicken wings and Eggo waffles to leave in a box out in the woods.

Anyone that watched the show knows who loves Eggos, but she died, right? Right?

Is Eleven really gone and has she found a new mother?

At the end of Episode 8, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) needed to save Mike and her friends so she sacrificed herself to kill the Demogorgan. The young girl was very powerful, though, and she could travel between worlds and do things with her mind, so is she really gone?

Digital Trends believes that it’s possible she could be trapped in another dimension and that is one of the popular fan theories going around. The next round of episodes could also bring together Eleven and Hopper to form an ultimate team, and creator Matt Duffer says as much.

“Obviously something happened to her when she destroyed and killed that monster and we don’t know where she went. Hopper is left with this guilt because he sold her out. We wanted to leave it sort of mysterious exactly what he knows… Have there been sightings in the woods or is he hoping she’s out there or has he already made contact with her? We don’t answer any of that, but we like the idea of potentially putting her and Hopper together.”

One other big question mark was the mother of Eleven who was mentioned many times but never truly discussed. Joyce (Winona Ryder) did come around to being a motherly figure for her, but that storyline never got enough time to have major attention given to it.

Is Will really alright?

Will (Noah Schnapp) was finally rescued by his mother and Hopper, but there had to be some lasting effects on his mind and body. One of the final scenes of Stranger Things has Will excusing himself to wash his hands, but he goes to spit up some weird slug that slides down the drain.

In case you forgot, that same kind of slug-thing slid out of Barbara’s mouth when her body was found in the Upside-Down. Bustle thinks that Will may be the new “monster,” but what if he simply brought a piece of the Demogorgan with him and it will now be reborn in the real world?

What evil will come from the Upside-Down…another Demogorgan?

Speaking of the Demogorgan, Eleven may have destroyed it, but there is bound to be other evil beings living in the Upside-Down. Those slugs were all over the place and Sheriff Hopper had even found a hatched egg at one point that the camera focused on way too long for it to be nothing.

There is still something very evil in the Upside-Down, but the gate is still open and anything is possible.

A number of other questions remain and fan theories are running wild on the internet, but nothing is going to truly be known for quite some time. It appears as if things are going to still center around Eleven, but first, she needs to find her way back.

Season 2 of Stranger Things is the right move by Netflix, and yes, it really would have been “dumb” not to continue the series. The characters that were still around at the end of the first eight episodes will be back and it certainly appears as if others will be as well — Eleven. The darker tone will make returning fans even more excited and there is already so much in place for what is on the way with the kids, the Demogorgan, and more.
