Demi Lovato Predicts X Factor Winner Is In Her Group

Demi Lovato is confident about her chances of mentoring the eventual X Factor winner. Speaking to MTV, the 20-year-old singer and X Factor judge claimed the show’s champ would come from her group of singers.

“My group. I predict my group will win. I feel like my group has the winner of the entire competition in it, and I’m so excited for all four people in my category. I’m really excited.”

The final 16 contestants in the televised singing contest are split between the four judges with each celebrity judge being assigned a group of four: boys, girls, over 30s, or groups.

Of course, Demi Lovato wouldn’t be drawn on who was in her group (“I’m not going to tell you. You’re just going to have to wait and find out”), though the mention of “all four people in my category” suggests she hasn’t landed the groups.

Whoever Lovato is mentoring on the show, the star said she deliberately avoided deploying any strategy or preferences when selecting which four artists would form her final group:

“I wasn’t expecting any group, I was just looking at every contestant as, ‘OK, am I going to be able to mentor this person?’ And if they’re older, younger, my age, whatever, I just wanted to be able to make sure I could mentor anybody in this competition.”

Lovato also confessed that she still gets butterflies in the stomach when it comes to live filming:

“[I] definitely [get] nerves, I’m nervous about not only just being on camera, live TV, but also I’m nervous about my contestants. I want them to do a really great job and I know they work hard and it might be a little more pressure when they do the live shows because it’s more focused on them than the competition so far.”
