Sasha Obama Summer Job: 15-Year-Old Is Working At Popular MV Eatery

Sasha Obama has a new summer job! The daughter of the POTUS and the FLOTUS will be working on Martha’s Vineyard, a favorite vacation spot of the Obama family. The 15-year-old is taking orders at Nancy’s, one of the most popular eateries on the island. According to the Boston Herald, Sasha is working at the takeout window of the restaurant, known to be her dad’s favorite place to chow down on MV.

“Sasha, who’s using her full name, Natasha, at Nancy’s, has been learning the service industry ropes at the Oak Bluffs eatery this week, working a cash register, busing tables, and doing prep work before the restaurant opens for lunch,” reports the Boston Herald.

Sasha Obama hasn’t been living a “normal” life, though it may appear so. While she’s working hard just like other kids her age (and at a restaurant, not some fancy job set up by her wealthy parents, no less), she is surrounded by Secret Service. During her shift on Wednesday, Sasha Obama was accompanied by six agents, most of whom managed to stay out of the way in a nearby blacked out Suburban. At least one security guard was spotted sitting on a bench right near the takeout window, however.

After Sasha Obama finished her shift, she brought out a tray of drinks for the people who vowed to keep her safe all day. She then jumped in the SUV and headed out. While the teenager is still learning the ropes (one patron said he had to tell Sasha his order four times), her presence is expected to bring in additional business (as if Nancy’s needs it).

“We were wondering why there were six people helping this girl, but then we found out who it was. She’s been hosting, serving and working takeout. We’re happy to have her. It will probably be good for business,” said another Nancy’s employee.

Sasha Obama started her summer job recently and has been spending some time without her family on Martha’s Vineyard, but her parents and her older sister, Malia, will be arriving on Saturday for their annual two-week family vacation. The Obama’s rent a house in Chilmark, one of the most expensive towns in America.

According to Forbes Magazine, the 28.5 acre property overlooks Tisbury Great Pond. The home boasts a media room, a climate-controlled wine cellar, and a private terrace off the master bedroom suite. Of course, there is also a swimming pool, a hot tub, and access to a private beach. The home rents for a whopping $50,000 per week.

You can bet that the Obama’s will be eating at Nancy’s while they are in town, and President Obama is said to be good pals with the restaurant’s owner, Joe Moujabber.

Sasha Obama will likely be staying with her family in Chilmark or may already be staying in the home now. She will be driving 30-minutes to Nancy’s in Oak Bluffs courtesy of her very own “men in black” squad. Her dad will spend his days playing golf while Michelle and Malia do some shopping, sight-seeing, and relaxing.

The White House didn’t respond to inquiries, and a manager declined to comment on details surrounding Sasha Obama’s summer job. Would you want to go to Nancy’s just to see Sasha Obama working there? If so, don’t get too excited. Each time she has been approached and asked to take a photo, she has politely declined.
