The Walking Dead Season 7 is getting closer to premiering. Not much was confirmed until Comic-Con 2016, which took place recently in San Diego. Now, there is even more information available. AMC network finally released the first photos of the upcoming season. What is known so far and what do these images reveal?
There may be possible TWD spoilers ahead. If you do not want to know any information regarding Season 7 of the zombie apocalypse series, then stop reading right now.
The network did publish them on the network’s official website. What do the TWD photos reveal?
The first image is of Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He is holding what appears to be a rifle with a scope. The Walking Dead villain is looking out a window with a menacing smile on his face. Who is he aiming at and why does he get such joy out of torturing others? Hopefully, that weapon is not aimed at any fan favorite characters.
The second image was made available to the media. It is Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and he is sitting on the throne of the Kingdom. As fans know, the character is a good guy and will help Alexandria and the Hilltop Colony defeat Negan and the Saviors. The Inquisitr previously reported everything TWD fans need to know about Ezekiel and Shiva. There is a good reason why comic book readers are so excited that Payton’s character will be on the television show this season.
It should also be noted that AMC‘s press center lists the photo of Ezekiel being from Season 7, Episode 3. It isn’t known for sure if that is when he will be introduced, but it is likely.
The next image for The Walking Dead Season 7 is of Morgan, portrayed by Lennie James. Based on the surrounding buildings, it appears to be Alexandria. If not, then he is in a small town. The undead are visible in the background, but Morgan doesn’t seem worried. He is looking in the distance and seems to either be fixated on something or lost in thought.
As viewers recall from Season 6, Morgan and Carol were not in Alexandria. He found Melissa McBride’s character and she was injured. However, she didn’t want to go back home. It is rumored by The Spoiling Dead Fans that the two will end up in The Kingdom.
AMC’s next picture is of Carol. Early in The Walking Dead Season 7 trailer, she was seen with bandages. This image shows the TWD character with a wounded arm and she is on a blanket. She is propped up as if she was woken up by something or someone. Carol looks surprised, but not afraid. It is more of a shocked and unsure kind of look. Perhaps soldiers from The Kingdom found her? Later in the official trailer, Carol appears to be fixed up, so at some point she gets taken care of.
Next up is Jesus (Tom Payne), and he cleans up pretty well. He is inside a building, but it’s difficult to tell where he is. The background is blurry, but upon close examination, there appears to be paintings on the wall and a fancy orange light. This might be a stretch, but is that a painting of Shiva? As for Jesus, the character has his eyes on something or someone with a calm, yet serious look.
There is another photo of Negan and he is carrying his barbed wire baseball bat, Lucille. Although Alexandria cannot be seen, it is clear that is where he is headed based on the close-up of the gates. It’s hard to tell what he is thinking because he has no expression on his face. However, whenever Negan personally arrives, there is likely trouble ahead.
The final picture for The Walking Dead Season 7 is of some walkers. They are more decomposed than ever and there is a small group of them headed towards something. At least, it appears to be a small group unless fans look more closely. Through the thick fog, the outline of several more walkers can be seen. It might be a large horde and they are all headed in the same direction. The ground is just plain dirt, so they don’t appear to be inside Alexandria or on the road. There is no grass visible, so they aren’t in the woods either.
What do you think of the first photos for Season 7? Do they confirm any theories you had for TWD?
The Walking Dead airs new episodes on October 23.
