Nina Dobrev ‘Glad Ian Somerhalder Romance Ended’: Not Returning For ‘Vampire Diaries’ Finale As Career Skyrockets

Nina Dobrev’s recent Hollywood success has convinced her that ending her relationship with Ian Somerhalder was a good one after all, it has been alleged.

The actress, who briefly dated the actor while filming their hit show, The Vampire Diaries, eventually decided to call it quits, which, reports claimed, caused a rift in their friendship since Ian went on to date Twilight actress Nikki Reed.

While there was never any bad blood between the trio, sources alleged that Nina Dobrev found it uncomfortable to be working with her ex-boyfriend while his wife would watch as they filmed hot and steamy scenes together, prompting Dobrev to announce her departure from TVD and commit to a full-time career in Hollywood.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Nina has found herself landing several roles this year, with her biggest one being a lead character in the forthcoming xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. The outlet daringly alleges that Nina’s glad her relationship with Ian came to an end, especially now that she sees how well she’s doing compared to Somerhalder.

“It is rumored that Nina Dobrev is patting herself on the back for escaping the possibility of a doomed marriage to an actor whose career is in decline.” The webloid alleges that Ian and Nina Dobrev had reportedly made plans to get married before their decision to call it quits, which is said to be one of the reasons why Dobrev is so elated by their relationship ending when it did.

Aside from xXx, Nina has also signed on to star in the upcoming Flatliners, followed with the release of Crash Pad, giving fans all the more reasons to believe that initial reports claiming that Dobrev would return to The Vampire Diaries this year weren’t true after all.

“Nina Dobrev isn’t returning to ‘Vampire Diaries’ because she doesn’t need to: she has enough movies in the works to keep her busy until the end of vampire eternity,” Celeb Dirty Laundry goes on to stress. “And she certainly doesn’t need Ian Somerhalder, whose flailing career would just drag her down.”

Last month, executive producer Julie Plec claimed that Nina made her a promise that she would return for the finale, but that wouldn’t necessarily mean that Dobrev would reprise her role as Elena for the entire series.

There are definite possibilities that she would make a brief appearance in the final episode, but to return to the show as a full-time cast member isn’t going to happen, as much as fans would like for this to be the case, sources have revealed.

If it’s true that Nina Dobrev was unhappy working with Ian Somerhalder, as claimed by Parent Herald, in the presence of his wife, Nikki Reed, there is no reason to believe that the actress would reprise her role when her acting career in Hollywood is in full effect, the outlet concluded.

Vampire Diaries fans are already trying to figure out how producers are going to conclude the storyline without Nina in the mix of things, considering the fact that she played such an important role throughout her six seasons.
