Kym Johnson Celebrates 40th Birthday Days After She Wed Robert Herjavec, Waiting For Mr. Right Gave Her A Fairy-Tale Ending
Dancing with the Stars pro Kym Johnson is celebrating her 40th birthday on Thursday just days after she wed the love of her life, Robert Herjavec. They got married on Sunday, July 31 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, with their close friends and family witnessing their nuptials. Although she was engaged once when she was in her 20s, the dancer said that she is happy that she waited for her Prince Charming.
Johnson spoke to People on why it took her until she was almost 40 to find someone to spend her life with. Even though she told the magazine that she broke off her first engagement a while back, she figured that she would be married by the time she turned 30. Once that birthday passed and she was asked to be on Dancing with the Stars, she said that she was way too busy to get into a relationship.
Little did she know that the extremely popular ABC show would be the place where she would meet her future husband and have millions of people cheer them on. Kym had pretty much given up on settling down with anyone because of her schedule and not finding the right person. However, she made it a point to say that just because she didn’t have a man in her life didn’t mean that she wasn’t happy.
“People look at you if you’re not married and they think, poor you, but that wasn’t the case. I was really happy with my life. Of course I wanted to share my life with someone but I wasn’t ready to settle and be with someone just for the sake of being with someone.”
Just last year, during Season 20 of Dancing with the Stars, the twosome was paired together to compete for the Mirror Ball trophy. The world watched as their affection for each other grew each week. Although they didn’t win the shiny prize, they certainly won at love. Herjavec proposed to Kym Johnson in March, and now they are husband and wife.

Her romance with the Shark Tank star came at a time when she least expected it. She mentioned that she now knows that this is the real deal and that she is very happy that she waited to find just the right guy.
“I know it’s the real thing. He’s the most incredible person. And I feel so lucky to go through life with someone who loves me so much. And I’m glad I waited for Mr. Right!”

As expected, Kym and Robert had planned their wedding with plenty of dancing. The 53-year-old entrepreneur was surprised when his bride had planned a dance number with a Croatian group to honor her new husband’s heritage. Herjavec also had a surprise for Kym Johnson as well. He took to the stage to do a birthday duet with singer Olivia Newton-John, who is one of her idols. The birthday serenade was a huge hit. Both women hail from Australia, and Kym was thrilled that she was able to share her wedding, and her early birthday celebration, in such a special way.
She explained exactly how she felt about having Olivia Newton-John sing to her.
“I adore her. I was shaking. And then we sang ‘Let’s Get Physical’ together. It was like I was in some weird dream.”
Kym Johnson also met another one of her idols, Nicole Kidman, during her wild bachelorette party the night before, as reported by ET. It sounds like she had one heck of a weekend. She is now settling down as Mrs. Herjavec and couldn’t be happier.
