Mariah Carey: Surrounded by Shirtless Hunks, Says Nobody ‘Knows The Real Me’

Mariah Carey feels she is still an enigma to most people. They don’t know her, and it takes a lot of time to get to know the real Mariah, or perhaps anyone for that matter. Interviews are fun, but they don’t reveal the real woman behind the music. No one knows her, not really, she explained at a recent press conference reported by FOX News. That is why E! is airing a new eight-part program, revealing Mariah’s World.

“I don’t know that anybody really knows the real me, because if somebody sees me on TV or here or in an interview, it’s not enough time to get to know somebody. If you know somebody for 10 years, you kind of know the real them … hopefully, they’ll see other sides of me they either find entertaining or something good instead of bad.”

Mariah Carey is introducing her new show, Mariah’s World, while surrounded by shirtless, incredibly muscular male models — all gorgeous of course. She even had them making a chair of their bodies for her to sit on, according to CBS News. The eight-part miniseries will air beginning December 4, on E!.

Mariah’s World will not be reality TV, at least according to Ms. Carey. It’s just going to show what her life is like as she tours. Even more than that, though, she told FOX 411, this show is about how music is created.

“I don’t consider it reality … I haven’t been on tour in Europe in about 10 years. So I thought, let’s just show the behind the scenes, what it really takes to do a tour … and mainly, watch how the music evolves, watch the process, and watch how the different personalities clash.”

Mariah Carey says she doesn’t even like reality TV, before getting a little existential, and questioning the nature of reality. Does it even exist?

“I don’t even watch reality. I don’t even know what reality is, literally.”

Hopefully, Mariah’s World will show at least a bit of what Carey is all about, whether it is a reality commonly defined or not. One thing is certain, though. Ms. Carey’s reality is different than most people’s, as explained in Vanity Fair. Being a beautiful pop star engaged to a billionaire, like James Packer, is certainly something beyond most people’s wildest dreams. What about having a five-octave vocal range, for that matter? That is just impossibly perfect and hardly believable — except it is true. She does have a five-octave range. Her life certainly doesn’t enter the ordinary person’s definition of reality, but it could be good fuel for fantasy.

Mariah Carey is not typical at all, according to Vanity Fair. Her new trailer for the show features an interview with her in her hotel room wearing nothing but a leather bustier and fishnet stockings. She insisted this was not unusual at all for her. It is what she always wears at home.

“Is this a normal outfit for people to wear? I don’t know, but I’m home, and this is what I wear!”

Yes, Mariah Carey is certainly different. How many women out their can’t wait to go home and put on tight restrictive undergarments? Not very many, for sure.

Mariah’s World, Carey hopes, will clarify to fans who she really is, at least a little. It won’t be like spending ten years with her obviously, but at least people will see a more balanced side of her than has been revealed so far. She feels misunderstood amid various celebrity gossip and a few misunderstandings on American Idol that may have cast her in a bad light.
