Caitlyn Jenner Flip Flops On Support For Donald Trump, Wants To ‘Help’ The Republican Party

For months we’ve seen Caitlyn Jenner flip-flop on her support for the Republican nominee, Donald Trump. Over the last few months, she’s backed Donald Trump, but Jenner has been leery about officially endorsing him. It might be because she’s still trying to find a connection with the LGBT community.

As an outspoken Republican, Jenner has struggled with being accepted as a conservative voice in the LGBT community as her outspoken views have landed her in hot water.

While Jenner is a proud Republican, her views on Donald Trump as the Republican nominee for President were brought up in a recent interview, and it seems like Caitlyn is flip-flopping once again.

During an appearance on Bill Simmons’ HBO show, Any Given Wednesday, Jenner clarified that she had not endorsed Donald Trump. “I have not outwardly supported anybody.” That said, she was still present at the RNC. Back in July, she said, “It was easy to come out as trans, it was harder to come out as Republican.”

Jenner took to the stage at the RNC to make those with conservative views aware of the LGBT struggles.

She highlighted President Obama in being a progressive force for the community, casually saying that his decision to allow trans individuals in the military was “very good.” Caitlyn continued, “They are already there; finally they can serve openly. I think that’s a very good step for our community for equal rights.”

During her RNC speech, the Olympian turned reality star spoke about her support of the community as a Republican.

“I am here, since I’m on the Republican side, to help the entire Republican party do a better job when it comes to LBGT issues. They have not been as good when it comes to LBGT issues and social issues.”

She continued: “I have kind of positioned myself with the Republican party to try to help these people understand. [To help] the Republican party understand what the issues are for the LBGT community.”

Aside from the fact that she’s a Republican, her presence at the RNC is not a shock. Although Jenner hasn’t officially endorsed Trump, she stood behind his views of the LGBT community. Jenner stood up for Trump, who is often seen as a sexist for various comments he’s made in the past.

In an interview with Stat, Caitlyn took the heat as she said, “Trump seems to be very much for women. He seems very much behind the LGBT community because of what happened in North Carolina with the bathroom issue. He backed the LGBT community.”

Jenner’s biggest offense to the LGBT community came in March when she said she wanted to be evangelical Ted Cruz’s “trans ambassador.” This caused a ruckus in the LGBT community due to Cruz’s views against those in the community. Even though Jenner noted that he was “one of the worst when it comes to trans issues,” she still suffered a backlash.

Prior to that, Jenner was off to a shaky start when her views on “feminine presentation” came to light. When she was interviewed by Time magazine Jenner said her feminine appearance was a “good image” for the trans community.

“I think it’s much easier for a trans woman or a trans man who authentically kind of looks and plays the role. So what I call my presentation. I try to take that seriously. I think it puts people at ease.”

These comments not only made Jenner look superficial, but it also spoke to her privilege in the trans community as a famous person as she has failed to note the struggles of trans people who are trying to survive on a day to day basis by just being who they are.
