Latest ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Ship Revealed

As we move into August, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story gets closer, and with it details and news that gradually trickle its way onto the internet. This includes brand new ships debuting in the new movie. The Star Wars Show revealed yet another ship to titillate your ocular inserts. Creative executive of the Lucasfilm Story Group Matt Martin provided the details.

Enter the U-Wing as it was cited to be a transport ship. It also provides air support and its technical designation is INCOM UT-60D. The Star Wars vehicle also has wings that move to different positions depending on the situation.

“It’s a troop transport and gunship. So it’s there to bring in rebel troops to heavy fire zones and get out as quickly as possible.”

Martin also mentioned that some concept art revealed the U-Wing at the 2015 Star Wars Celebration convention in Anaheim, Calif. via an investor meeting. Slash Film even mentioned an alien seen manning a gun aboard a U-Wing in the behind-the-scenes clip for the Rogue One movie. His name is Bistan, who is a member of the rebellion and rumored to be played by Star Wars veteran actor Warwick Davis, according to Leaky Cauldron. Hopefully, he can do the rebellion some good come December.

Back in mid-July, movie vehicles and ships were also revealed on the floor of the Star Wars Celebration Europe convention in London, according to io9. The AT-ACT, which is a larger version of the AT-AT, features a cargo bed for heavy building materials or combat munitions. There’s also Krennic’s Imperial Shuttle. A sign under this model stated its purpose.

“With its starkly geometric hull shape and folding bat-like wings, the approach of Delta-class T-3c shuttle is an imposing sight. Once it lands and deploys its passengers – the cruel Director Krennic and his squad of elite troopers, all sense of dread proves extremely warranted.”

Scenes of the aforementioned dreaded grouping have been shown in some of the Star Wars footage.

Then there’s the TIE Striker ship which is slightly different than the all-known TIE Fighter seen in previous movies. It is just rather streamlined in design and provides support to TIE Fighters when chasing down the enemy. It also patrols over Imperial ground installations.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has released pieces of movie teases as of late. The 2016 San Diego Comic-Con revealed a single character with description. His name is Edrio Two Tubes, according to Screen Crush.

“Edrio Two Tubes is a mercenary pilot who flies alongside his eggmate, Benthic. The two share the nickname derived from the breathing apparatus that allows their Tognath physiology to process oxygen atmospheres. Edrio’s home world Yar Togna was conquered and occupied by the Empire, forcing him to flee as a refugee. Desiring to strike back at the Empire, Edrio and Benthic have allied with Saw Gerrera.”

The aforementioned ally is played by Forest Whitaker in the movie.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stars leading lady Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, Mads Mikkelsen as Galen Erso, Ben Mendelsohn as the villainous Director Orson Krennic, Riz Ahmed as Bodhi Rook, an Imperial cargo pilot, Alan Tudyk as the droid K-2SO, and the familiar sounds of James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader. More follow, but this will tell the interesting tale on how the rebellion acquired the Death Star plans.

This should get interesting as new content fills the Internet with vehicles, characters, and other Star Wars news that will likely come between now and the movie’s debut. There is no telling what to expect as the nostalgia factor kicks in.
