Current Standings For The Next Goddess Of Asia — Song Hye-Kyo Has Real Chance: ‘Descendants Of Asia’ Cast Reunites

There is just one month until the Goddess of Asia is chosen, but the next round is actually set to take place in just a couple of days, and the stress is building up. As of Wednesday morning, South Korean actress and Descendants of the Sun star Song Hye-Kyo has fallen a little bit but that isn’t going to stop the campaign for her to take the crown.

A huge social media campaign is underway to get Song Hye-Kyo (SHK) up into the top of the standings, but she has dropped a little bit over the last couple of days. In the last 24 hours, she actually went from second to first place but is now down in sixth.

The next vote is set to take place on August 6, 2016, and her fans are doing everything possible to help her move up the ranks in the race for the next Goddess of Asia.

As of this writing, Chinese actress Zhao Liying is in the top spot of the standings, which can be seen here on the official Goddess of Asia website. Votes keep going up for all of those in the competition, but the standings seem to be holding in place for the time being.

Again, there are still three more voting rounds and they will take place on these dates:

  • August 6, 2016
  • August 20, 2016
  • September 3, 2016 – Final Round

The next round will see the list cut down to 20 women, and again, it is believed that Song Hye-Kyo will make it there with no problem. She has been popular for a while now, but it was her role in The Descendants of the Sun that shot her to superstardom.

She recently reunited with her castmates from the film so that they could record commentary for the director’s version DVD, as reported by Soompi. She was joined by actors Kim Ji Won, Song Joong Ki, and Jin Goo, writers Kim Won Suk and Kim Eun Sook, and director Lee Eung Bok.

The director’s DVD version of The Descendants of the Sun is set to be released in November with numerous special features. Some of those extras will be the cast and crew commentary, interviews, music videos, and deleted scenes.

Song Hye-Kyo has already taken the honor of sitting at the top of the 10 most beautiful women in Asia for 2016, according to Top Channel. Still, landing the title of Goddess of Asia is something that the 34-year-old actress would cherish forever.

If anything, she is certainly keeping her name and face in the public eye, and that will do nothing but help her chances.

A month may not seem like a lot of time, but there is so much that could happen in the Goddess of Asia competition during the next few weeks. In just the last 24 hours, there have been drastic changes in the standings and there are still three full rounds of voting to go.

During this writing alone, Song Hye-Kyo has jumped to fifth place, dropped to seventh, and rebounded back into sixth place while gaining thousands of votes.

Song Hye-Kyo appears to be the favorite for the crown of Goddess of Asia, but she has fallen a little bit in the current standings. There is very little doubt that she will fail to make it past the next round later this week, but then there are two more to go. Social media has a very strong campaign, but it will have to pick up some for the star of The Descendants of the Sun to overtake Zhao Liying and others.
