Leonardo DiCaprio Pranks Jonah Hill By Pretending To Be A Crazy Fan Paparazzi

It is not every day that you see a high-profile celebrity prank. Fortunately for us, we have the Wolf of Wall Street actor Leonardo DiCaprio to show us how it’s done.

The Titanic protagonist was just walking down the street when he noticed a fellow actor, Jonah Hill. The two of them have already worked on multiple projects like Wolf of Wall Street.

When celebrities are trying to live their “normal life,” they do not usually dress as fab as when they do in the red carpet. That is probably why Jonah Hill did not notice the Oscar-winning actor.

But that was an opportunity for Leonardo DiCaprio to prank him. DiCaprio was with his friends when he noticed Hill from afar. He came rushing towards Hill with a smartphone on his hands until he was close enough to startle the star, according to PopSugar.

Jonah Hill pushed back, but Leonardo DiCaprio hugged him. When Hill knew what was happening, Leo’s friends came in as well to join the fun.

These two celebrity buddies go way back. During their panel with Variety, Jonah Hill recalled how intense Leonardo DiCaprio works behind the scenes.

“Any time you do any sort of physical scene with Leonardo DiCaprio, he doesn’t understand that it’s acting and he beats the living crap out of you for six months,” Hill joked at a Variety Screening Series Q&A. “Since he’s bigger than me, I couldn’t physically beat him up back so I had to figure out a way to get back at him with my brain.”

Jonah Hill did not push back on the pranks as well. They said that Hill even pushed Leo to an almost food poisoning scenario. Hill’s prank version came during Leo’s weakest moment, filming.

In one of the scenes for the Wolf of Wall Street, their characters were supposed to eat sushi when they realized that their partnership, in both business and life, would be coming to an end. However, Hill improvised a line. DiCaprio was supposed to ask Jonah Hill if he was going to eat the last piece of raw yellowtail sushi, but he said, “No, buddy, it’s all yours.” Now, DiCaprio had to eat the yellowtail sushi whenever they were shooting.

“So he had to match that take for the rest of the night and had to eat about 70 pieces of raw yellowtail and was throwing up into a trash can,” Hill said. “Everyone was like ‘Oh, Leo, are you okay?’ and the only two people on the floor laughing were Scorsese and me. Use your brain, it’s better than your muscles.”

Kidding aside, these two actors did a fantastic job on Wolf of Wall Street. Both actors noted that the entire crew was committed to doing their best, even if it meant they would have to do the strangest things possible.

In one scene, Jonah Hill’s character was supposed to put a goldfish in his mouth, but they had an issue with PETA. PETA would not allow them to eat the goldfish. So, instead of eating the actual goldfish, PETA showed up “with three adult goldfish wranglers—like adult minder of goldfish… I was allowed to have it in my mouth for three seconds at a time and then spit it back into water.”

Wolf of Wall Street was directed by Martin Scorsese. It was a box office hit and it opened to an $18,510,000 weekend. The movie garnered multiple awards in 2013 to 2014 including AFI Movies of the year, Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer for Margot Robbie, Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio, and MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance for Jonah Hill.
