Chris Brown Sued For 1OAK Club Shooting In 2014

The life and times of Chris Brown just continue to get worse and worse. After a string of bad headlines painting the R&B singer as a volatile hothead, Brown is going to have yet another lawsuit on his hands.

TMZ reports that Chris Brown is being sued for the 1OAK Nightclub shooting that took place in West Hollywood two years ago. Brown’s gang affiliations have also been called into question in this lawsuit set against him.

Ginja Elms, who filed the lawsuit against Brown, claims he was one of the victims who was shot in the 2014 club shooting. A pre-MTV Video Music Awards party was being held at the club on the night of August 24, and Chris Brown was hosting. Other celebrities were in attendance, including The Game, Russell Wilson, Young Jeezy, Lil’ Twist, and Tyson Beckford. The co-founder of Death Row Records, Suge Knight, was also there.

It was around 1:30 in the morning when the club started to become really packed. According to eyewitnesses, two gunshots went off a few minutes later. The eyewitnesses reportedly told Us Weekly, “People were screaming and yelling and most ran out immediately. The floor was covered with glass from everyone dropping their drinks.”

Beckford took to the stage to ensure everyone that they weren’t gunshots. Several minutes later, the police showed up and had everyone exit the club. Knight was also a victim of the shooting, and was shot six times.

Ginja Elms makes it clear in the lawsuit that the 1OAK Club was aware of Chris Brown’s gang affiliation, and should have done a better job with their security, insisting that every single person who entered the club should have been patted down, including celebrities and the people they came with. Singer Pia Mia co-hosted the event with Chris Brown, and is also being sued by Elms.

Elms is suing for damages in excess of up to $750,000. Knight’s family released a statement to Revolt TV following the shooting, citing how much blood Suge had lost, and asking for respect and for people to keep Suge in their prayers.

In June, Suge Knight also sued Chris Brown for the 1OAK Club shooting. The former hip-hop mogul also claimed that Dr. Dre was somehow involved with the shooting. Knight wants Chris Brown as well as 1OAK to pay for all of his medical expenses, while also claiming that the club’s security was very negligent.

Suge is currently serving time in prison on murder and attempted murder charges.

Chris Brown has a lot to deal with lately, including his feelings over his ex Karrueche Tran, apparently. Karrueche and Chris broke up last year, and Brown claims he has been single ever since. In April, Brown confirmed that he and Nia Guzman were parents to a daughter, Royalty, while Brown was still in a relationship with Karrueche. This is what caused Karrueche to walk away from the relationship.

HollywoodLife claims that Chris Brown attended Kylie Jenner’s birthday party, where Karrueche Tran was also present. But when he tried to make his way over to talk to her, Tran shut that down quickly.

According to HollywoodLife‘s source, “[Chris] knew damn well [Karrueche] was going to be at Kylie’s party and that was his incentive to go. He saw her inside and try to make his way over to her but it was a wrap! As soon as Karrueche saw him she made sure she was as far away from him as possible until she left.”

“Chris knew immediately that he was s**t out luck,” the alleged source continued. “He could tell by the mean way she looked at him. He still really hasn’t gotten over her and regrets not telling her the truth about Royalty.”
