Justin Bieber is taking sides in Taylor Swift’s feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, and it looks like he’s not on Team Taylor.
Justin took to Instagram on August 2 to make it known exactly where he stands amid the twosome’s recent feud, posting a black and white screen shot of himself in a FaceTime conversation with Kanye.
Justin didn’t reveal exactly what the twosome were talking about during their video conversation, though he did give fans a pretty big hint about the topic of conversation in the photo’s caption.
“Taylor Swift what up,” Bieber captioned the shot, hinting that West’s past drama with Swift more than likely came up during his chat with Kanye.
This is the first time Bieber has officially spoken out amid Taylor’s feud with Kanye and Kim, though he and Swift have been rumored to not exactly see eye to eye for years, with much of their animosity allegedly stemming from Swift’s close friendship with Justin’s ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez.
Hollywood Life even reported earlier last year that Taylor was actually one of the big reasons the two fought during their romance, which was on/off for four years between 2010 and 2014.
“Selena still loves Justin, but is not helping him get friendly with Taylor,” a source claimed of the Bieber’s strained relationship and reported feud with Selena’s bestie in 2015. “She tried that before for a long time and it never worked.”
“Taylor was actually the main reason for fights between Justin and Selena,” the site’s Swift source added.
Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift have never officially confirmed the feud reports, though Swift definitely alluded to drama with Bieber during a now infamous moment backstage at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.
As captured by a backstage web cam, Swift stuck her tongue out after Justin and Selena embraced backstage at the award show just minutes before she asked for “another question” after being quizzed on how she felt about Justin taking home an award on the night.
Following Taylor’s Billboard diss, a source told Hollywood Life that the singer has long “hated” Bieber and didn’t approve of Selena’s relationship with him.
“[Taylor] hates Justin and wants Selena to have nothing to do with him,” a Bieber insider admitted to the site but claimed that Gomez was doing all she could not to let the twosome’s feud become an issue.
“Selena will remain friends with Taylor regardless of her dating Justin,” the source said. “[Selena] knows it is best for her to remain friendly with both, because the only times Taylor will really see Justin is during award shows. Everyone can fake that they like each other for a few hours when they are in those situations.”
But despite Gomez’s attempts to play mediator, the drama reportedly then spilled over once again earlier this year after Entertainment Tonight suggested that Swift was throwing some serious shade Justin’s way during Bieber’s iHeartRadio Music Awards performance.
Bieber’s performance was applauded by those around her, though video footage showed Swift turning away and taking a sip of water as Bieber hit the stage.
However, it appeared that their past drama may have come to an end back in May after Bieber was spotted singing along to Swift’s 2006 single “Teardrops On My Guitar.”
E! News reported that Justin took to Instagram to post multiple videos of himself and friend Ryan Good listening to the track, and even claimed that Taylor liked the social media snippets.
But after Justin’s most recent Instagram post, it looks like the feud is most definitely now back on.
