Rita Ora Goes To Therapy For Her Struggles With Anxiety

Rita Ora may have it all together these days, but she’s very much human. The British pop star is opening up to her fans about her struggles with anxiety.

In the new issue of Britain’s Cosmopolitan magazine, as quoted by The Record, Rita Ora revealed that she has therapy once a week. The “Poison” singer revealed that she often has anxiety whenever she thinks about her future. Since then, Ora has found it helpful to speak to someone about her fears.

“I have someone I speak to once a week. People suffer from it in different ways, but for me it’s more about thinking about the long-term goal. I’m a very ‘in the moment’ person, so if I have to do something there and then, I’ll be fine. But if I think about it, that’s when anxious thoughts start going on.”

Ora, 25, revealed that she now has a strong support system that helps her ease her anxiety. She admits that she gets nervous every time she performs one of her songs or records a new song in the studio. Ora has been through two major triumphs. First, she was signed over to Atlantic Records after she finally escaped from Jay Z’s Roc Nation Label. She was also recently announced as the new host of America’s Next Top Model.

“I get so nervous because I case so much,” she revealed. “Sometimes I get nervous about recording a song in the studio. I’m like, ‘I’m not ready to record this yet.’ Or, ‘I don’t think I can do this.’ So I’m relieved to have people around me who encourage me to do well.”

Rita is gracing the September 2016 issue of the magazine. In that same interview, Rita said that she has a lot more respect for Zayn Malik for opening up about his own struggles with anxiety on social media. Zayn cancelled his recent appearance at June’s Capita Summertime Ball in London due anxiety.

“I’m so glad someone has spoken out about it. I’m not scared to admit that I have had therapy.”

The singer and actress also opened up about her experiences with panic attacks. In addition to the other stress in her life, Ora admitted that she has become a victim of sexism within the music industry. Ora has been accused of being a serial cheater and has also been accused of sleeping for tracks by various celebrity bloggers. Ora also addressed the several times when male music producers or musicians wouldn’t speak to her about business matters simply because she’s a woman.

“Things would be said differently and conversations would be taken outside (the room) only because I am a woman.”

These new revelations came after Rita was hospitalized for exhaustion in late June for “working and partying too much,” sources told The Mirror. Unfortunately, both of Rita’s worlds collided when she was tired after recording new music, filming 50 Shades Darker, and flying from UK to Glastonbury before her two-day photo shoot on the beach.

“She’s completely exhausted, she hasn’t had a break in months. She has been working solidly for the past few months then she parties whenever she gets the chance. She works hard and plays hard.”

She was photographed leaving a music studio a week prior, but then her body started to shut down in the middle of a photo shoot after partying in Glastonbury. Ora took to social media to share a photo of herself with an IV drip in her arm. She also thanked her fans for their concern and support.
