Kristen Stewart Talks Failed Robert Pattinson Romance: Why She’s Happier Dating Alicia Cargile

Kristen Stewart has openly talked about her failed relationship with Robert Pattinson in her exclusive interview with Elle.

The actress, who was infamously dumped by Pattinson because he allegedly couldn’t overlook the cheating affair she had with film director Rupert Sanders, reveals that the romance didn’t feel like real love to her, and she has several reasons to explain why.

Kristen and Robert were together for an estimated four years. And while the actress firmly believed that Pattinson was the one for her, in her interview with Elle, she admits that being in love with the British star often felt as if she was trapped inside a “ridiculous comic book.”

The attention surrounding her romance with Pattinson from Twilight-obsessed fans was already a struggle in itself, to the point where Kristen couldn’t differentiate the character from the films with the person she was in love with.

“When I was dating a guy I was hiding everything that I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialized, so I didn’t like it,” she reveals, as quoted by Celeb Dirty Laundry.

“We were turned into these characters and placed into this ridiculous comic book, and I was like, ‘That’s mine. You’re making my relationship something that it’s not.’ I didn’t like that. But then it changed when I started dating a girl.”

Kristen Stewart admits that when she began dating women, there was less pressure in trying to be something she wasn’t. Coming from a relationship that was surrounded by the Twilight phenomenon, Kristen knew that people wouldn’t care that deeply about her romance with Cargile as much as they did with Pattinson, which satisfied her.

“I was like, ‘Actually, to hide this provides the implication that I’m not down with it or I’m ashamed of it, so I had to alter how I approached being in public. It opened my life up and I’m so much happier.'”

Her interview with Elle is the first time Kristen has publicly addressed her relationship with the video effects designer and her former romance with Robert Pattinson. Stewart has given the impression that, while she sees no reason to explain herself or the actions she takes in life, letting people know that she’s not ashamed to say she’s attracted to women seemed to be something that was rather important for her to address.

Following her breakup with Robert, Kristen and Alicia Cargile became very close with one another, to the point where media outlets already began speculating whether the two were an item, but Kristen never confirmed those reports. Instead, she would shy away from the topic and refuse to answer any question regarding her love life.

Now, however, things have completely turned around, giving fans the impression that Kristen Stewart is happy with where she is in life. In her interview with Elle, the 26-year-old mentions that the love she feels for Cargile is unlike any other, and while the duo has broken up several times in the past, their reconciliation this time around seems to have assured Kristen that it’s going to last.

What do you make of Stewart’s comments regarding her previous relationship with Robert Pattinson? Does she make a valid point regarding the pressure of behaving a certain way following the romance-driven storyline she found herself in with the Twilight franchise? Does she justify her point about being in a public relationship with another high-profile celebrity?
