Chris Pratt Moved To Tears By ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2,’ Reveals He Is Having His ‘Dream Summer’

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films in 2017.

And the star of the show, Chris Pratt, recently opened up about the film, including the time he was “moved to tears,” and how excited he is about fan-favorite Baby Groot.

According to MTV News, director of Guardians of the Galaxy films, James Gunn, along with the rest of the cast for the sequel, were on hand at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con and showed off the first teaser for fans lucky enough to be there.

And out of all the film’s characters, fans apparently were most impressed with not Star-Lord, but Baby Groot. But don’t expect Pratt to be getting jealous anytime soon.

“I’m thrilled about it,” Pratt stated after the Marvel panel. “In fact, that, to me, was a big test. Anytime in animation you create a character, completely out of nothing, if they can’t make you feel something, then that storyline is just not going to work.”

“I don’t think they’re responding simply because he’s cute — although, that is one bonus — but he really makes you feel something,” Pratt added. “You truly want to protect this wonderful little character.”

Baby Groot may have impressed fans, but he wasn’t the biggest news regarding the sequel. After months of rumors, Gunn used Comic-Con to announce that seasoned actor Kurt Russell would, for sure, be playing the part of Peter Quill/Star-Lord’s father, Ego.

“That relationship is so important,” Pratt said. “It’s the major thread for Quill and his story in this movie. When James first told me about the movie, before Kurt [Russell] was ever a part of it, it just moved me to tears. [Kurt] being cast in it was just an extra amazing element to something that was already so special.”

Of course, Chris Pratt wasn’t at Comic-Con only to discuss Guardians of the Galaxy, but also his two other highly-anticipated films, Passengers, and The Magnificent Seven.

The in-demand actor also took a little time to open up about his personal life to Extra, and how much he and his wife, Anna Faris, love being parents to their 4-year-old son, Jack.

But Jack has also made him realize that being a movie star, is not his number one priority anymore — family is. He revealed that “something comes up and you are like, ‘Nope, there’s something more important than show business, that’s more important than Hollywood.'”

Pratt also shared that his son is a major fan of Guardians of the Galaxy and that his favorite character is the aforementioned Groot.

To top things off, the youngster already sounds like he has a future in comics, recently telling his Star-Lord father the following.

“To obliterate is to have power.” Pratt shared his son’s words with E! News.

Yahoo! reveals that Pratt recently spent over a year at different locations shooting his three upcoming blockbusters. After spending 14 months on the road, Pratt and his family have been catching up together by enjoying the great outdoors at their home in the San Juan Islands, Washington.

Pratt said they are having a fantastic time fishing, crabbing and having dinner together. He said that after spending so many months apart this is the “dream summer” he’s been waiting for.

As for the three upcoming films, The Magnificent Seven hits theaters Sept. 23, followed by Passengers slated for Dec. 21 and finally, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which will be released on May 5, 2017.
