Josh Groban And Kat Dennings Call It Quits After 2 Years

It’s official — Josh Groban and Kat Dennings have decided to end their relationship after two years of dating. The odd pairing, which quickly became people’s favorite unexpected couple, started dating after they were introduced by Denning’s co-star. They made headlines this week when they decided to call it quits.

A source told E! that it wasn’t a drama filled event that lead to their demise as a couple, but instead, the two decided to mutually end their relationship after two years. “It was a mutual breakup. They are still friends and care about each other, but it’s not the right time for them now as a couple.”

Although Josh Groban and Kat Dennings kept a low profile, Groban did gush after his 2 Broke Girls star girlfriend often enough. At a 2014 charity event Carousel of Hope Ball in LA, the two hit the red carpet for the first time as a couple and looked stunning.

Something significant that also happened at the charity event, is that it marked the first time Kat Dennings heard boyfriend Josh Groban sing. This came as a shock because Groban is one of the most well known and respected opera singers in his genre. In fact, he’s often credited for making the genre “cool” in the mainstream.

Despite his status as an opera icon, Groban revealed that it was the first time she ever heard him sing. When he was on the red carpet, he said the following.

“I do have such a lovely date tonight. I’m very lucky my girlfriend has joined me tonight. It’s her first time hearing me sing. So I’m going to do some extra warmups tonight so I don’t suck.”

Groban went on to explain that they do “joke sing” all the time, and “harmonize on the radio” but as far as seeing him sing professionally, Kat didn’t get the chance until that night in October a few years ago.

He explained that he thought it would be “cheesy” if he tried to impress his then girlfriend with his voice, because he’s so famous for it. That said, in the age of YouTube, Dennings could’ve easily looked him up.
When Groban attended The Ellen DeGeneres Show, it was a good opportunity for the singer to talk about Kat.

“She’s, well, she’s such a brilliant and funny person. Humor is such a huge thing for me, so the fact that we could talk about Monty Python and all sorts of weird other things, I was like, ‘OK, yeah, we’re on the same page.'”

It sounds like they did really share comedy together because Kat Dennings admitted that she loves how witty he is. At the time, she giggled to E!, “He’s very witty on the Twitter, and I saw his little Tweets sometimes.”

It’s been a hard few weeks for Kat Dennings. She’s been mourning the death of her co-star and one of her best friends, Anton Yelchin. The actor died in a freak car accident on June 19, when his Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled and crushed him against his security gate at the end of his drive way. When the news broke of the actor’s tragic death Dennings was one of the first people to react:

Since then she’s been sharing personal photos she took with the star, who she co-starred alongside in the 2007 comedy Charlie Bartlett.
