Nick Jonas Is ‘Running Wild With Bear Grylls’: What Can You Expect From His Epic Adventure?

Bear Grylls is at it again and this time, Nick Jonas is his latest conquest. Tonight is part one of an all-new Running Wild With Bear Grylls in a two-night season 3 premiere on August 1 and 2. The first night will feature the pop star eating gross things and trying to keep up with the British explorer. It may have been just a little tougher than he expected.

The two men headed into the Sierra Nevada Mountains where it was cold and snowy with many treacherous conditions to get through, as revealed by Billboard. Jonas took his chances at stepping out of his comfort zone, which is on stage in front of a bunch of excited females, to spending time alone with Bear out in the freezing wilderness learning all about being able to survive out in the wild.

The 23-year-old musician will be seen bundling up for this adventure on Monday night’s premiere and going into the snow-covered mountains where he will be taught a few survival skills by Grylls. Some of them may just test his endurance, not to mention his taste buds. Nick Jonas may have had no idea just what he was getting himself into.

From the previews for the upcoming episode, Jonas is seen trekking through the snowy mountain tops on cross country skis, and also stripping down to his undies and diving into the icy cold water. He is not alone because Bear also does the same as the men jump in and do their best to get to their destination.

There is also a clip showing what happens at dinnertime with the wilderness boys. Nick gets to chow down on bird guts, which is carefully stuffed with grubs by his faithful companion. He doesn’t have to worry about eating it raw as this not-so-yummy treat was roasted over the fire to a crispy concoction. But first, the bird had to be defrosted. Grylls found a way to do just that. He stuffed it down the pants of Nick Jonas. His fans will certainly be getting an eyeful tonight.

Bear Grylls knows how to challenge these top-notch celebrities with his way of life in the deep wilderness. With the absence of great-tasting food, the comfort of a soft bed, and a working cell phone, these A-listers are definitely tested. The 42-year-old adventurer said in a recent interview with ET Canada that he was highly impressed with Nick overcoming the difficult circumstances in the wild.

“He did so well, what a great guy. Threw himself into it, dealt with even his diabetes — that can be so difficult. He overcame so many personal challenges, Nick, on this journey and he leaves with all of my respect.”

Nick Jonas was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2005 and has been a mentor of sorts for other young people who also have to deal with their diabetes diagnosis. That certainly didn’t stop the “Jealous” singer from achieving his dreams. He says that he is all about doing his best to inspire others to challenge themselves by overcoming their own obstacles. He is most well-known for being the youngest member of the former Jonas Brothers, but Nick has now made a name for himself as both a talented singer/songwriter, as well as getting a taste of an acting career.

Jonas is not the only celeb who will be seen on Running Wild With Bear Grylls. Dancing with the Stars judge, Julianne Hough, headed to South Africa on her adventure with Bear. That episode will be shown on Tuesday night, August 2. Upcoming celebrities who will be testing themselves on the adventure series include Vanessa Hudgens, Lindsey Vonn, Courtney Cox, Marshawn Lynch, and Shaquille O’Neal.
