Selena Gomez New Song: Teen Choice Awards Winner Debuts New Music?

Selenators were abuzz when word of a Selena Gomez new song hit the internet. But the singer, who is currently on tour to support Revival, her Interscope Records debut album, released the music in a very 21st-century way: via Snapchat!

That’s, of course, according to Digital Spy, who first reported that the Selena Gomez new song, which some think is called “Getting Impatient,” was released on the popular social media platform. In the Snap, Selena Gomez — who put a butterfly crown filter on in the clip — sings for about eight seconds, and her fans shared the music on every other social media platform almost instantly!

Why do Selena’s devout legion of fans think the Selena Gomez new song is called “Getting Impatient”? One theory, according to Idolator, is that it was the title of the snap that came right after the song share, which she captioned, “getting impatient, want to share moreeeee” [sic]. Selena shared the news of the new song — and the potential for new music next year — during her show in Singapore last night.

Perez Hilton was lucky enough to actually get a video of Selena Gomez’s new song announcement; she made the announcement just before she performed her fan-favorite song “Feel Me.”

“Lately I’ve been writing and recording some new music. I’m getting ready to release another album. I can definitely say that now,” she told the cheering crowd.

It was thanks to her Singapore show, in fact, that Selena Gomez missed the coveted Teen Choice Awards last night. According to Refinery29, however, she wasn’t the only celebrity who missed the show. In fact, the list of celebrities who missed the awards was just as long as the celebrities who came to the awards. Selena, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony, and the Kardashian/Jenner clan (save for Kendall Jenner, who only “attended” via a pre-recorded video) were all conspicuously absent from the show, a fact which sent many Twitter commentators ablaze during the ceremony.

That didn’t stop Selena Gomez from taking home five coveted awards last night, however. Variety released the full list of Teen Choice Awards winners, and Selena took home awards in both the music and the digital categories.

Selena Gomez has made the news lately for a wide variety of reasons. In addition to releasing a new song, Selena Gomez is making the rounds of the gossip blogs because of her lip-synced performance of “Cold Water,” a song her ex Justin Bieber made famous. She also received overwhelmingly positive reviews of her performances in Southeast Asia, especially since she’s also taken the time to meet some of her devoted fans — most notably Liza Soberano and Maine Mendoza.

According to Philstar Global, Mendoza, who performs on the Filipino show Dolce Amore, was one of the few lucky fans who got to meet her so-called “idol” last night.

“It makes me happy when I idolize the right person,” she wrote on her Instagram account. “[She] is such a beautiful person, both inside and out.”

Meanwhile, the GMA Network is reporting that Mendoza — who is an AIDub superstar, known as the Dubsmash Queen of the Philippines — also met the superstar and wrote that she was an “inspiration” on her Twitter account, which boasts almost four million followers.

No word on whether Selena Gomez’s new song will be released anytime soon.
