Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton Are Going Strong, Despite Breakup Rumors, Debra Messing Twitter Drama

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton continue to be plagued by breakup rumors, but from the looks of things, they are going strong nearly one year into their relationship.

During a new interview with Billboard magazine, Shelton opened up about his new album, If I’m Honest, and revealed how he and Stefani first hit it off while filming The Voice Season 9 in Los Angeles last year.

“When you have a broken heart—at least, when I do—you got to get it out of your system. You want people to sympathize with you. I was at rock bottom, in the middle of hell,” Shelton said of his new music, according to a report by In Style magazine. “You can learn some facts of my divorce. Maybe not specifics, but you can get a general idea about it.”

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton were co-stars during The Voice Season 7, when Stefani first joined the show, but they weren’t close until the summer of last year, when they both announced they were ending their marriages.

“I won’t forget that day,” Shelton recalled. “I looked over at Gwen—who I didn’t really know—and she had these huge tears in her eyes. I thought, ‘Wow, she feels super bad for me!'”

Gwen Stefani announced she and her now-ex-husband Gavin Rossdale were ending their marriage after 13 years in August of last year, just weeks after Shelton and his former wife, Miranda Lambert, confirmed the end of their split.

“It went from that, to checking in on each other once a week through email—’This s**t happened to me, what happened to you?’—to maybe three times a week, then every day, to ‘Hey, here’s my phone number if you ever want to text.’ Next thing I know, I wake up and she’s all I care about, and I’m wondering if she feels the same about me,” Shelton revealed.

All in all, Shelton appears to be convinced that he and Stefani are together for a reason.

“Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician?” he said. “You can’t even imagine the similarities in our divorces.”

In other Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton news, actress Debra Messing recently apologized to Stefani after slamming her boyfriend Shelton for his comments about one particular candidate in the upcoming election.

“Omg. How? @gwenstefani please talk to your man to not vote for the person who will strip you of your rights,” Messing wrote in a Twitter message to Stefani last week, which she later deleted.

As Pop Wrapper reported, Shelton had tweeted about Donald Trump a short time prior, claiming a lot of people are behind him, despite what Hollywood has to think, and noted that he says what he thinks and is never afraid to voice his opinion. Although Shelton didn’t come right out and say that Trump has his vote, Messing didn’t appreciate the comment and fired back with her own.

While Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton didn’t immediate address the actress’ comment, tons of fans weighed in on her tweet and after deleting the post, Messing issued an apology.

“Ok- I regret commenting. My passions got the better of me. Sorry. @gwenstefani @blakeshelton,” the message read.

In response to Messing’s apology, Shelton shared a post back to her, which said, “Thank you sis.. I don’t endorse anybody. For this very reason!!”
