WWE News: Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts Wants To Return To WWE, Could He Manage A Current WWE Superstar?

In his prime, Jake “The Snake” Roberts was considered one of the most underrated performers in WWE history. Many WWE fans are shocked to learn that Roberts never actually won a WWE Championship during his entire tenure with the company. A lot of people associated him with WWE’s Intercontinental Championship, but he never actually held a title in a major promotion.

That surprises a lot of people, but there is another way of looking at it. Jake Roberts’ dark persona, along with intense and vivid promos and in-depth ring psychology, makes him one of the most unique characters the WWE Universe has ever seen. It’s also like he didn’t need to win any WWE Championships because he was able to get over on his own as a heel. That’s impressive.

That makes Jake “The Snake” Roberts one of the most underrated and most deserving of accolades to match his contributions to the wrestling industry. WWE inducted him into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2014, which was a great step. However, there is a lot of potential for Roberts to become a part of WWE programming and get more involved with the company in 2016.

Recently, the WWE Hall of Famer appeared on DC 101 for an interview and the topic of him making a potential return to WWE came up. Roberts revealed that he would return to WWE if they gave him a call because he believes he can help. When the topic came up, he said the following about returning to WWE programming in the future.

“I have so many things I want to do, so many things. When I’m sober and clean and my mind’s working, I’m happy and energetic and I know I can fix this and do that. What do you choose? I don’t know. But, if the WWE did call me, yeah, I’d be right back in there man because I love wrestling and the Lord knows wrestling needs some help right now.”

Just to be clear, Jake Roberts is 61-years-old. It is extremely unlikely that WWE doctors would medically clear him to wrestle, but there are other ways that the WWE Hall of Famer could be of use to the WWE product. Given his relationship with WWE and his sobriety, is it possible that Jake “The Snake” Roberts could become a manager of a current WWE superstar?

For example, Bray Wyatt could be considered a modern day Jake Roberts on the current WWE roster. His character utilizes a dark persona that almost no one else is able to emulate on-screen, and his work on the microphone is his bread and butter. The idea of Roberts getting involved with The Eater of Worlds has the potential to be an incredible dynamic between the two men.

The Wyatt Family was also separated by the WWE Draft, so Braun Strowman is on Raw and Erick Rowan is on SmackDown. It seems both former Wyatt Family members will be doing their own thing in WWE in the future, but Luke Harper is set to return to WWE television at some point this fall. The expectation is October, and there have been rumors of him getting a solo run.

Luke Harper is a very strong wrestler, who could benefit a great deal from having someone as intense and well spoken as Jake Roberts assisting him as a manager. That duo could potentially make Luke Harper a major player on Raw or SmackDown, but it emphasizes exactly what value Jake Roberts could still bring to the WWE product if he were given the chance to perform again.
