When Vin Diesel updates his Facebook page, people take notice. The Fast and the Furious star recently hit a major Facebook milestone when his page reached 100 million likes on July 29, making him the first actor to achieve that social media accomplishment.
Many celebrities took the time to post congratulatory messages to Vin Diesel, as reported by Entertainment Tonight. Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg was one of those celebrities to send his congratulations, and he also shared one of his favorite photos that features Zuckerberg trying on Diesel’s sunglasses during their first meet-up.
Brewster added the caption, “This was our first trip together for Fast and Furious. From the very beginning, Vin knew how special this film would be. He was and continues to be our fearless leader.”
“Congratulations Vin it seems the world is as captured by your Strength, Loyalty, Kind Heart & leadership as I am. You have good intentions in this business, and that is tough to find in Hollywood. I’ll forever treasure our friendship.”
While Vin Diesel is the first actor to have 100 million Facebook likes, he is the third celebrity to reach that mark. Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and singing sensation Shakira are the other two celebrities that reached 100 millions likes on the social network.
Diesel regularly updates his Facebook page with live streams; behind-the-scenes and throwback photos; and videos and movie trailers of his upcoming films. On July 29, the Riddick actor uploaded a throwback photo of him and Walker, who became his best friend during the Fast and Furious filming, when they filmed one of The Fast and the Furious films. That photo received over 1.8 million likes from fans.
Diesel only has one movie coming out this year called Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk that will open on November 11. Ang Lee is the director of the war drama movie, and the film also stars Kristen Stewart, Joe Alwyn, Steve Martin, Chris Tucker, and Garrett Hedlund.
The actor has two other films with a 2017 release date: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, where he will reprise his character, Groot, has a May 5 opening date; and the eighth installment of the Fast and the Furious series, Fast 8, which has a scheduled release date on April 17.
Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray is in the director’s seat for Fast 8, and the star-studded cast includes Rodriguez, Gibson, Dwayne Johnson, Lucas Black, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, and Charlize Theron as the movie’s villain.
Fast 8 is one of the films in the movie’s franchise that will not have Paul Walker starring in it, with The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift being the other film that didn’t feature Walker’s character. Walker died in an automobile crash on November 30, 2013.
Vin Diesel has not officially commented about his Facebook milestone, but he is a part of the new behind-the-scenes Fast 8 video that the official Fast & Furious YouTube channel uploaded on Friday. The latest short video features Diesel’s daughter, Hania, as she gives her opinion on the upcoming film.
