Ed Sheeran Married? Singer’s Ring Sends Sheerios Into Frenzy

Is Ed Sheeran married? A recent photo of the singer/songwriter sent his fanbase into a frenzy earlier this week, according to CNN.

The culprit of controversy was a silver ring seen on Sheeran’s left hand in a picture with his goddaughter, which several Sheerios, as they’re called, thought looked like it could be a wedding ring.

The 25-year-old musician has always been private about his personal life, rarely mentioning his relationships.

It was a rare treat for fans recently when he was spotted in a picture that his close friend Taylor Swift posted on Instagram in celebration of both his one-year anniversary and their mutual friends’ engagement.

Ed Sheeran is seen standing in the background kissing his girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn. “‘Love actually is all around.’ Congratulations guys ??,” Swift captioned it.

Knowing he’s in a long-term relationship, the internet speculating that Ed Sheeran got married isn’t such a stretch. His emphasis on privacy would also explain why he hasn’t broadcast it to the world.

However, fanbases are known to take speculation to extremes, only to have the truth reveal itself. Typically, the truth isn’t nearly as exciting.

One fan pointed out that Sheeran has worn this ring before, and even produced the photo to put side-by-side with the newest one (never underestimate fanbases and their research skills or attention to detail).

Ed Sheeran himself, of course, hasn’t broken his social media silence to comment on the rumors. Actually, he’s been gone for nearly a year.

After his tour ended in December, 2015, the Grammy Award winner announced that he’d be taking a break from the internet for awhile–social media, emails, and his phone in general.

“I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.”

He has stayed true to this word. He hasn’t posted anything online since that last message, and stories about him in the media are few and far between.

Sheeran’s spoken about marriage in past interviews. Talking to Mix 104.1, he remained tight-lipped about who he was dating at the time, but he said getting hitched and having lots of children is definitely somewhere in his future. In fact, he wants a big family.

“Eventually as a human being I would like to get married,” the singer said. “I’d like to have kids until my organs stop working, to be honest. That’s honestly what my gran did.”

It’s understandable why so many fans would be heartbroken at the thought of Ed Sheeran getting married. With his poetic lyrics in songs like “Thinking Out Loud,” “Photograph,” and “One,” he’s established himself as a talented songwriter and a sure romantic.

“Thinking Out Loud” has been used in countless weddings, with many posting the videos online and sharing them with Sheeran. The song even earned him his first two Grammy Awards at the ceremony earlier this year.

He surprised a couple with a performance of the song at their wedding in Australia in 2015, according to Huffington Post. Local radio station KIIS 1065 helped Matt and Kya Debono to plan their nuptials, since they couldn’t afford to have their dream wedding.

The icing on the cake was a visit from Ed Sheeran, who performed “Thinking Out Loud” for their first dance. Naturally, everyone was moved to tears by the unforgettable moment.

If Ed Sheeran’s married, the internet may never know.

What we do know, though, is that his Instagram post said he’d see us next autumn, which is fast approaching. Who’s ready for new Ed Sheeran music?
